I wrote a similar article on Gross Beat before, but this time I will read the waveform of Kick and make an automation clip with the same shape as Kick.
It is said that if the volume is reduced by automation similar to Kick's waveform, a natural sidechain effect can be obtained. (To be exact, it is not a side chain, so it is called a side chain effect)
It is like this.
It looks like this with drum'n'bass.
Create an automation curve similar to Kick's waveform
Creating an automation curve similar to Kick's waveform on your own is quite a challenge.
FL Studio has a great yesterday and you can create automation curves from waveforms.
As a first preparation, add "Fruity Balance" to the mixer to which the sound source you want to apply the sidechain effect is assigned.
Right-click "Volume" and click "Create automation clip" to create automation.
If you select the range for one beat at this time, it is easier because you do not have to edit it short later.
When selecting a range Ctrl + Drag.
Next, double-click the top of the automation clip to display the automation clip edit screen *.
Click "Artculator tools"-> "Analyze audio file" from the ▼ at the bottom left.
* The edit screen of this automation clip isFL Studio 20.9It is a function installed in.
If you don't see it, you can do the same by updating or clicking on the top left of the automation clip and selecting "Artculator tools"-> "Analyze audio file".
A dialog appears here and Kick's file is read, but if you do not know the path being read in "Sampler", open "Sampler" and click the red frame part in the figure below to display the location in the browser.
After that, right-click, click "Windows shell menu", and click "Properties" to find the Path.
When you open Kick, Kick is loaded and the automation curve is completed.
However, if this is left as it is, when the Kick sound is loud, it will be loud, and when it is quiet, it will be quiet, so it will be reversed.
Click "Flip vertically" from ▼.
This will invert as follows.
After that, if you place the automation clip in the same position as the kick, you can get the side chain effect at the timing when the kick sounds.
Summary
I did the same with Duck.
First from Duck.
Automation has a strong sense of unity, but Duck feels rhythmically addictive.
I think it's important to know both methods and be able to make a choice, not which one is better.
