How to use the Reason Lite Rack Plugin MATRIX with Voltage Modular
I'm yosi, the caretaker.
I also tried this.
There are two ways to do it, and the result is that using the Reason Lite Rack Plugin inside Voltage Modular doesn't work.
It is a good idea to start Reason Lite Rack Plugin and Voltage Modular separately from a DAW such as FL Studio and send the MIDI data of MATRIX to Voltage Modular.
That's why this article is sent with the following contents.
What's wrong with using the Reason Lite Rack Plugin inside Voltage Modular?
How to use the Reason Lite Rack Plugin MATRIX with Voltage Modular
First of all, I will explain how to do it.
The settings are the same as the previous series that utilizes MATRIX of Reason Lite Rack Plugin, but the Voltage Modular side is slightly different.
Voltage Modular side settings
First, from the MIDI settings
Set the "Input port" of "MIDI" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.
After that, "PITCH" of "CV SOURCES" at the top of the screen can be used normally by connecting to an oscillator etc., and "GATE" can be used normally by connecting to ADSR etc.
Velocity information is also sent, so "VEL" can also be used to move the parameters.
I also prepared a connection example.
I don't know at all! Please refer to those who say.
Reason Lite Rack Plugin side settings
Add the Reason Lite Rack Plugin.
First, right-click and click "Instruments"-> "MIDI OUT Device".
Next, right-click on "MIDI OUT" and add "MATRIX".
(Cables are automatically connected in this order)
I also prepared a GIF video for the time being.
Next, change the "MIDI" setting.
Set the "Output port" of "MIDI" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.
(If you combine it with the "Input port" that will be set later, there is no problem with anything other than "0".)
Now press the "MATRIX" play button and you will hear a sound.
What's wrong with using the Reason Lite Rack Plugin inside VoltageModular?
VoltageModular has a "Plugin Host" module that supports loading VST3 formats.
Therefore, I think you should load "Reason Lite Rack Plugin" from the "Plugin Host" module.
I tried it, but it's no good at all.
The cause is that there seems to be a problem with the processing of MIDI data.
I would like you to watch the following video, but "PITCH" is output firmly.
However, "GATE" is fixed at 5V and is still output.
Originally, the output of "GATE" should also be rippling as shown below.
Conversely, if you don't need the "GATE" information, you can use the "Plugin Host" module, but that's not often the case.
In conclusion, it is better to go through the DAW because there may be other problems.
Summary of how to use MATRIX of Reason Lite Rack Plugin with Voltage Modular
This has become more fun than I expected.
Personally, I was dissatisfied with "Voltage Modular" because there was only one sequencer in the Core library.
However, if you can use "MATRIX", you can play a lot of things, so I will write a little article about "Voltage Modular" again.
