Introducing TheKissOfShame, a plug-in that reproduces Hollance's tape saturation.
Today I would like to introduce Mr.Hollance's tape saturation plug-in, TheKissOfShame.
Although it is version 1, I felt that the operation was a little strange.
I feel like I'm losing in appearance.
Sound demo
No presets are included.
I tried it with a drum.
Overview
“Something so wrong never sounded so right.”
Debuting at the Audio Engineering Society Convention 2014 in Los Angeles, The Kiss of Shame is a pioneering DAW plug-in that leverages commercial UX/UI design principles to shape magnetic tape + circuit emulation algorithms.
To differentiate itself in the highly competitive pro audio plug-in market, The Kiss of Shame features innovative features such as an interactive multi-touch GUI and analog tape aging simulation for distinctive audio effects. Introduced the function.
The Kiss of Shame realistically models the effects of magnetic particle instability, lubricant loss, substrate deformation, drift, scrape/flutter, print-through, and reel expansion/contraction for sound design and music production. The world's first (and perhaps only) tape/analog circuit emulation plug-in built into the FX processing tools of the world.
It is also the first product to utilize machine learning to account for the vast nonlinearities inherent in magnetic tape and analog circuitry. Last but not least, it's the only analog tape emulation with touch-enabled, fully interactive reels that allow you to write flange automation on the fly, just like a real analog tape deck.
Choose from two types of tape:
S-111 – An excellent reel format that was popular from the 50s to the 70s and is the reference tape of choice for many engineers. Kiss of Shame introduced the first digital emulation, bringing this legendary format to the digital world.
A-456 – This classic high-power/low-noise format is a recording staple used in countless productions. There are many software emulations, but none quite like this. To capture its essence, a unique digital reproduction tactic was employed.
Note: The tape type selection button currently has no effect.
From weathering to weathering
Age – This knob allows you to legislate the virtual amount of time the selected tape type has been exposed to the selected “environment” and manipulate the severity of the corresponding effect.
Environment – Several simulated storage conditions to expose the source material to sonic effects due to factors such as magnetic particle instability, oxidation, lubricant loss, tape pack expansion/contraction, and “vinegar syndrome” Choose from. By selecting the “Hurricane Sandy” setting, you can also access processing models recovered from storm-damaged tapes.
Note: Only the Hurricane Sandy environment is implemented.
Real world obstacles:
Shame – Kiss of Shame reproduces the full spectrum of these factors that the user can give with the center knob, including Drift, Wow, Flutter and Scrape-Flutter. It can reproduce the color tone of the source signal from mild to completely broken.
Print-through – Also known as “bleed-through,” this emulation captures the mechanical speed fluctuations present in analog recordings. What used to be a challenge for engineers is now a hallmark of classic records.
Note: Print-through functionality is not implemented.
Reach out and touch the tape:
The Kiss of Shame is the first tape plugin to feature animated, interactive reels that can be controlled with simple clicks and touches. This allows real-time access to a full-fledged analog tape flange without the need for two physical tape decks. All parameters, including reel movement, are fully automatable, and to optimize screen real estate, the reels are collapsible and fully customizable.
Tip: Drag the reel to add flanges. Double-click anywhere on the UI to collapse the reels.

Installation
When you unzip the downloaded file, the "KissOfShame.vst3" folder will appear, so put it in the following folder.
C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ VST3
The installation process is now complete.
Points to note when using FLStudio
There was no sound unless I made the following settings.
