How to use FL Studio How to change root notes

Overview

FL Studio has a root note that is two octaves higher than a typical DAW.

In general, C3 is the root note, but in FL Studio, C5 is the root note.

Previously, on the Imageline bulletin board, I think that the developer wrote something like considering convenience because there is no rule about root notes in GM.

Certainly, C5 is in the middle (C0 to B10), and C9 and above are rarely used, so it is convenient to have a wider bottom.

If C3 is the root, the range that can be used in the bass is narrow.

Actually, depending on the sound source, it is used for snapshot switching or sequence switching with a MIDI note with a low number, but when you input a bass, it will be covered.
(It can be avoided by setting the NI FORM to minus.)

However, it may be difficult to use because it deviates from the MIDI notes described in plug-ins and manuals.

For example, the IRON 2 demoed now has a MIDI note on the GUI, but in FL Studio it needs to be read by +2 octave.

In such a case, you should change the route note.

One caveat is that the MIDI file drag system will shift if you change the root note, so you need to return the root note once when dragging and dropping a MIDI file.

How to change the root note

First of all, unfortunately, the method of changing the root note can only be done on a plug-in basis.

It cannot be changed in the project, and even if it is changed when registering in "Plugin Database", it will be reset at the time of loading.

To change it, click the gear icon on the upper left after loading the plug-in, and then click the spanner icon.

The "C5" on the keyboard is blue.

This blue keyboard is the root note.

All you have to do is move this blue keyboard to "C3".

Use "C3" to moveright click.

I prepared a video for the time being.

Click normally to specify the range.

If you accidentally click it, click "Reset" to restore it.

It derails a little, but if you want to specify the range, you can specify the range by dragging.

This will ignore any MIDI notes that are outside that range.

Summary

C5 is better for the route note, but in reality, C3 is the standard, so it seems that we are suffering from various inconveniences.

A DAW with a long history will not be able to change the route note suddenly, so it will not change in the future.
