Softube Modular is heavy, so if you try to do various things, the CPU load will be high.

But if you don't do various things, the CPU load will not be so high.
(Same as Serum)

I have tried various sound sources, but I think that the sound output by Mutable Instruments' Braids is quite different from other sound sources and is unique.

As if to tell that, if you look at the configuration of the person using the actual Modular, there is a high probability that Braids or Platits exist in the rack.

Since such Braids can be used with Softube Modular, there is no way not to utilize it.

In addition, I wrote a detailed explanation of how to use Braids of Mutable Instruments in another article, so please also check it out.

Minimum required configuration to use Braids from DAW

First of all, the minimum configuration, but besides "Braids", all you need is "ADSR", "VCA", and "MIDI TO CV".

Therefore, it is okay if you have a total of XNUMX modules including "Braids".

Connection method

The connection is as follows.

This is easier to understand in the video than in the image, so I prepared the video.

When you ring it, it looks like this.

With only 4 modules, the load is about 7% in the environment of Core i4770-3.5K 15GHz, so I feel that I can manage to use it even if I add other parts.

But it's really amazing because it's this without filters and effects.

For example, if you add reverb, you can create a metamorphosis sound like this.

This is dangerous.

Modules that are fun to add

We will also introduce modules that are fun to add because it is a good idea.

After all it will be VCF (filter).

Adding "VCF" together with "ADSR" doubles the fun.

I will add "Saturation Knob" together because it is a good idea.

The connection looks like this.

By connecting "VCF" and "ADSR", Filter Cutoff is moved by the envelope.

ADSR also has an inverted output (Inverse), so you can get a slightly different effect by using this.

I prepared a video.

It's fun, but if you move it this much, it will use about 7% CPU in the environment of Core i4770-3.5K 25GHz, so it will be quite severe.

I also add an LFO, but unfortunately it's hard to use because the standard LFO doesn't synchronize with BPM.

Summary

If it is a recent PC that is fast to some extent, it seems to work quite easily, but if it is a PC a little earlier, the CPU will be in full operation before writing songs.

If you minimize the Modular module, you can solidify the image while making enough songs.

If the image is solidified to some extent, it should be frozen (rendered), so I think it can be used satisfactorily.

Braids seems to have been released around 2016, but it's no wonder they're still popular.
