Overview
Origin is a vintage / lo-fi plug-in designed to make your sample sound like it's taken directly from an old tape machine.
The main knob is the resampler / bit crusher, which uses two special filters to make the sample sound like "underwater" (this effect is often heard in Drake songs).
The other four knobs are Tape Saturation, Noise, Movement and Chorus.With these 4 powerful controls, you can instantly give your sample a vintage feel.
What's inside the Origin hood?
Origin is based on vintage gear for the most realistic analog sound.
The Movement “knob (or Wow / Flutter) has a special mode that uses a randomizer algorithm to create realistic tape pitch swings.
We also reproduced the famous Juno 2 chorus sound in two modes, classic slow chorus and fast chorus.
In addition, the tape saturation mode is modeled after a vintage tape machine.Combine these with noise knobs and lesamplers for an unmistakable vintage tone.
How does the resampler engine work?
At the heart of Origin is the resampler, which changes the sample rate of running audio in real time.However, simply lowering the sample rate creates a bit crusher-like artifact called an "image."Often these are not desirable. Removing these images using Origin's special filters has an effect similar to a brickwall lowpass filter, but with completely different sonic characteristics.
Instead of lowering the lowpass filter cutoff to cut high frequencies, Origin mathematically prohibits the presence of high frequencies above the resampler cutoff frequency.
* This effect is the famous "underwater" effect heard in many of the melodies of Drake's songs.
