This time it's a compressor.

Overview

The PSP VCAcmp is a classic VCA style compressor.It can be processed using feedforward, feedback, or combined mode, providing a wide range of versatile compression flavors.Additional features such as external sidechain inputs, filters and automatic release times make this module an indispensable tool for any equipment setup and processed tracks.

Explanation of VCAcmp

It is a level comp that can be used normally.

Since it is a comp, I will omit the basic explanation.

However, since this comp is a side chain, I will explain how to use the side chain.

Personally, I was researching various side chains, but it was difficult to control the time it took for compression.

As a solution, I settled on the method of adjusting with volume automation without using compression.

However!With this comp, you can control the time it takes to comp with the length of the Gate, so you can adjust it freely!

I took a video because it's just words. 

Explanation of side chain

First, load "Voltage Modular" into the mixer.

Connect "In" and "Out" of "VCAcmp" as shown below.

You need to receive MIDI, so click the gear icon in the upper left.

Set the "Input port" of "MIDI" to "0".

Next, connect "Gate" to the following Input and press the "EXT" button.
(Now the sidechain works with an external signal)

You don't have to touch the others.
(I checked, but there was no change when using the Gate signal)

The length of the side chain can be changed in the settings on the comp side.

Adjust the hanging depth with "Ratio" and "Threshold".

You can adjust the speed at which it is applied and the timing at which it is released with "Attack" and "Release".

I took a video.

After that, if you read "MIDI out" and set "port" to "0", it will be triggered by Gate.

If you're using a drum loop, load it into SliceX once, leave only Kick, erase the others, and copy and paste to MIDI out to create a sidechain that fits the rhythm beautifully.

This PSP module works only with Nucleus, which is currently being distributed for free, so I highly recommend it.
