How to use FL Studio How to get a sidechain effect with a volume 2
I'm yosi, the caretaker of Chillout with Beats.
The previous article is here.
If you want to get the sidechain effect with automation, the disadvantage is that you have to change it when you fix the position of Kick.
There are two ways to solve this, but both need to trigger Kick from MIDI (piano roll).
2. Send Kick trigger information to "Fruity Envelope Controller" to get sidechain effect
This time, I will explain the first method.
Use layers to trigger kicks and automation for sidechain effects
First, start from the state where the side chain effect created last time can be obtained.
If you don't know, please read the previous article.
Any Pad-type sound that sustains the sound can be applied to the side chain.
It looks like the following.
You'll still need both automation and kick clips, and you'll need to copy and paste automation every time you modify a kick.
Therefore, we will combine the two using layers, which is a function of FL Studio.
I don't know the reason, but I can't find it by searching with Pluguin.
In the Tree display, "Layer" exists in "Misc", so add it.
What is a "Layer"? The point is a hierarchy. The MIDI received by "Layer" is sent to the subordinate VSTi etc. as it is.You can also split the keyboard.
To specify the subordinate, select Kick and automation from the state where "Layer" is active and click "Set children".
It's now layered.
Now let's mute Kick and automation in the Arrangement view.
Type Kick into "Layer" anew.
Place the newly typed Kick in the Arrangement view.
I think it's hard to understand, so I prepared a video.
Automation can actually be triggered by MIDI notes.
Now the MIDI notes are neat and tidy with the automation trigger and the Kick trigger all in one.
How to use FL Studio How to get sidechain effect with volume 2 Summary
How is it?
It is troublesome to prepare this method every time, so it is convenient to make one as a template.
Next time, I will introduce "Send Kick's trigger information to" Fruity Envelope Controller "to get the sidechain effect".
