How to use VCV Rack Explanation of EricaSynths Black Octasource

This is yosi from Chillout with Beats.

Erica SynthsActual machineBlack OctasourceIs the base module.

The price of the actual machine is already assembled€ 260.00So there seems to be no DIY.
(The selling price in Japan was 35,900 yen.)

What is EricaSynths Black Octasource?

For some reason, Black Octasource has a Japanese manual.

That's why I will quote it normally.

ERICA BLACK OCTA SOURCE we think
The ultimate type of LFO. Select one LFO from eight waveforms
Select LFOs in different phases by 45 degrees
Take 8 outputs.Or all 8 types of waveforms
You can also output at the same time.Waveform selection,
CV control controls all phase shifts and LFO cycles
Is possible. Also, the LFO cycle is used as an external clock.
It is also possible to synchronize.

Key features of EricaSynths Black Octasource

-Manual or CV controllable LFO cycle
-Phase shift direction that can be manually selected
・ Eight simultaneous outputs
-Synchronization with an external clock
・ Eight waveforms can be continuously morphed
・ Phase shift, waveform selection and FM CV input
・ LED deployment that reflects bipolar output amplitude

① RATE knob:Turn this large knob to control the LFO cycle. When set to the noon position, the amplitude change of all outputs freezes. The LFO cycle becomes faster with each clockwise rotation from noon, and the phase shift also rotates clockwise. If you turn it counterclockwise from noon, the LFO cycle will be faster and the phase shift will turn counterclockwise.

② SYNC:The LFO cycle is synchronized with the input external clock. The RATE knob does not work during synchronization with an external clock except in the center "freeze" position.

③ WAVE knob:Turn this knob to select the output LFO waveform. The built-in LFO waveforms are arranged in the order of sine, ramp, inverted absolute value sine, triangle, rectangle, absolute value sine, sawtooth, and S&H, but each waveform is continuous.
Since it can be changed, it is possible to continuously morph between each waveform one after another.
In MULTI mode, use this knob to change the waveform of each LFO output.

④ Mode changeover switch:Toggle the OCTA SOURCE mode. In MULTI mode, LFOs with the same period are output from 8 OUTs with 8 different waveforms. At this time, the WAVE knob shifts the waveform of each output. In SINGLE mode, outputs with the same period and adjacent waveform LFOs are output from 45 OUTs in different phases (or angles determined by the PHASE CV input) by 8 degrees.

⑤ FM LEVEL:Input to FM IN Attenuator for CV.

⑥ FM IN:Frequency modulation input to the built-in LFO.

⑦ OUTPUTS:Each output from OCTA SOURCE.It could be the heart of your system, or a modulation source that could be called the brain.

⑧ OUTPUTS LED:An LED that reflects the bipolar output amplitude.

⑨ PHASE CV:The input CV controls the phase shift of the output LFO.When the input CV is 0V, each output is output in a different phase by 45 degrees from the adjacent output. The CV controls the window function in 45 degree phase to each output.

⑩ WAVE CV:CV control of waveform selection is possible by patching the output in an external LFO, sequencer, or OCTA SOURCE.

Points of EricaSynths Black Octasource

It's very easy to create various patterns of LFOs.

I think that it is quite excellent when considering it as an actual machine that it can output 45 outs that are off by 8 degrees.

And in multi-mode, all 8 can output different waveforms with the same cycle.
You can morph with the Wave knob, so you can get a wide variety of LFOs.

Since I am an LFO and have 8 outs, it is also good that I can make myself function as an FM modulator.

Summary of EricaSynths Black Octasource

It was a better module than I expected.

This was also included in the candidates to buy the actual machine.

If it is virtual, you can increase the number of modules as much as you want, but in the actual machine, it is necessary to efficiently produce sound with as few modules as possible.
