How to enable velocity in Serum of Xfer Records

I came back with the SC88 Pro to the difference when I returned to my parents' house a while ago, so I'm investigating various things.

And I found this article.

There was a person who completely copied Rei Harakami's "OWARI NO KISETSU" with SC88Pro. (There is a sound source at the link destination)

I was surprised at how reproducible it was, and I wondered if Rei Harakami was making such a wonderful song with SC88Pro.
(Although it's not the sound from SC88Pro)

I also found this video.

You can also download the Logic project file.

I wanted to post a video of the original song, but I stopped because there is no official. (It's usually on Youtube, so please search for it.)

Yes, this is the main subject.

Last time I wrote an article to enable velocity in Vital, but I will write it in Serum as well.

Serum also has many free and paid presets, and many do not respond to velocity.

If you make it respond to velocity, the range of expression will expand, and you can use it with MIDI plug-ins such as "HY-Seq Collection 2".

I have also written an article about the free version of "HY-Seq Collection 2", so please take a look.

This article will be sent with the following contents.

・ Setting to respond to velocity with Serum of Xfer Records

Xfer Records Serum is set to be velocity responsive

Serum responds to velocity as well as Vital

The free presets are quite disjointed.

I've seen over 100 presets from some developers, and I feel like I'm mostly trying to modulate Amp to make it more responsive to velocity.

In other cases, the OSC volume was modulated.

In this article, I will send you the following contents.

Modulate Serum's Amp to be velocity responsive
・ Modulate each OSC of Serum so that it responds to velocity

Modulate Serum's Amp to be velocity responsive

The "Amp" parameter does not exist on the "Serum" GUI.

It must be set from the "MATRIX" page.

After opening "Serum", open the "MATRIX" page.

Select "Velo" from "SOURCE".

From DESRINATION, select Global-> Amp.

Swing "AMOUNT" to the right and click "TYPE" to change it to "⇔".

I also prepared a video.

Modulate each OSC in Serum to respond to velocity

This method is not only good for responding to velocity, but also for changing the volume balance of each OSC depending on the strength of velocity.

It is like this.

When the velocity is low, you can hardly hear "NOISE" *, so the sound is soft, but as the velocity increases, the sound of "NOISE" becomes louder and the treble becomes crisp.

* This preset uses horn-like Wav for "NOISE".

Setting method

The setting is the same as the normal modulation method, just drag and drop "VELO" at the bottom right to "LEVEL" of each "OSC" or "NOISE" to adjust the range.

I prepared a video.

Summary

It's nice to say that automation is used to raise the volume with Drop, but if speed is important, it may be good to set and adjust the velocity.

Nowadays, modulation by velocity is MPE.

I feel that there is no way I can not use it.

I might do some research and write another article.
