Explains how to use only the preamp section of the Pulsar Echorec
It was released by PSP Audio the other dayPSP BinAmpis a plug-in that emulates the preamp section of the Binson Echorec 2 delay.
So I tried to use only the preamplifier part of Pulsar's Echorec, which I personally love.
From the conclusion, I was able to use it with a good feeling!
If it is wet only, the bass will be hollow, but by mixing with dry, it can also be used for instruments that include bass.

Sound demo
I hung it on the guitar.
Gain match.
Dry is playing when the speaker icon is green.
I set the "Drive" to a slightly higher value on the drums.
It's good~
How to use only the preamp section of Pulsar Echorec
It's very easy to do.
Just set "DELAYS" to "OFF".
Other points are the four parameters "MIX", "DRIVE", "TONE" and "CONDITION".
MIX
Use this knob to measure the amount of delayed and original signals.Ideally, this setting should be 100% if the effect is to be placed on an aux track. When inserting directly into an audio track, adjust the balance between the direct sound and the faded sound.Note: In the original Echorec, the undelayed signal is passed through the machine's tube circuitry, so it has been modified. We decided to make this signal the same as the input signal. However, if you use the delay parameter Off mode, you can enjoy the sound processed by the tube circuit without delay.
You can adjust the balance between DRY and WET.
It's good to start with around 50% so you can easily hear the change in sound quality.
Wet 100% is OK for some instruments.
For materials that contain low frequencies, such as drum loops, the low frequencies are cut, so 50% is a good balance.
I think it's also good to raise the Drive and adjust the MIX from around 10%.
DRIVE
The Drive knob controls the gain of the signal passing through the tube circuitry. The higher the value, the fatter or distorted the delayed signal.
With a little bit of it, you can get some nice saturation on the drums.
tons
The Tone knob is used to adjust the tonal balance of the delay sound.
You can control the balance between treble and bass.
CONDITION
We modeled the Echo Lec in three states:
MINT: Brand new condition when shipped from the factory
GOOD: good condition
USED: Due to long-term use, the vacuum tube is worn out, and the magnetic head is also worn out.The characteristics of these three conditions are all modeled except for background noise, which is intentionally reduced, especially in Mint mode, to make the plug-in usable in a wide variety of environments.Mint mode, in particular, intentionally reduces background noise.
If you want to use Lo-Fi, use "USED" and the sound will fluctuate and feel unstable.
If you don't need background noise, you can stop the noise by clicking "Disable Static Noise" from the upper right three-point reader.
Summary
Pulsar originally designed it so that only the preamp can be used.
Depending on the plug-in, there are quite a few cases where the delay cannot be turned off.
(I think OverLoud's Gem ECHOSON and Arturia's Delay TAPE-201 were not possible)
This area is like Pulsar.
