How to use VCV Rack Explanation of Befaco EVEN VCO
This is yosi from Chillout with Beats.
VCV Rack module description.
I think the article on VCV Rack is the best in Japan.
Please read the following articles for VCV Rack.
Since it will be a preparation for the modular debut, I will mainly explain the modules that exist in the actual machine.
BefacoIs a Spanish company founded as an open hardware platform focused on DIY music hardware.
I'm really grateful that it can be used for free, so I would like to support such a company.
The price is 254,00 € for the pre-assembled and 149,95 € for the DIY kit.
A DIY kit is cheap and it may be good because it will be a lot of study.
All are in English, but there is a way to display Japanese subtitles.
Please refer to the following article for how to display Japanese subtitles.
How to use VCV Rack What is Befaco EVEN VCO?
Simply put, it's an oscillator.
There is the following description that I care about the explanation of the hardware, and it seems to be an oscillator that outputs a stable pitch even if the power supply is unstable.
It doesn't matter if it's virtual, but if it's a real machineVoltage becomes unstable = Output waveform is also unstableI will study if there is such a thing.
EVEN VCO is a voltage controlled oscillator that provides stability even in the event of power fluctuations.
Features of Befaco EVEN VCO
There are five types of waveforms as follows.
– Triangle
– Ramp (lamp oscillator)
– Even (waveform with an emphasis on even harmonics)
– Sine
– PWM (PWM oscillator)
Let's check each waveform.
I took a video, so please take a look.
The blue waveform is the Befaco EVEN VCO and the red is the VCO-1.
I wondered how much difference it would make, but there is almost no difference.
Befaco EVEN VCO Inputs
Inputs
– Hard sync. This forces the core to reset if the input changes phase.
– V / oct. The two inputs for pitch control are grouped into the main octave selector and tone control.
– FM. Linear pitch control
– PWM CV. Pulse width control is added to the potentiometer.
I tried to make a drum mun bass-like thing with this EVEN VCO as the main.
It makes a pretty nasty sound.
Befaco EVEN VCO Summary
It's a pity that FM cannot be adjusted, but the point may be that there are two inputs for V / oct.
If there are two, you can randomly put two sequences, so it seems that you can switch and match various things.
It is good to be able to try it by emulating it in advance.
From now on, hardware can firmly figure out what to buy to get the sound you are looking for.
