Making a sound source using Carbon 2 that comes with the free KOMPLETE START

This is yosi from Chillout with Beats.

Continuing from the last time, I would like to introduce the synth that comes with the free KOMPLETE START.

The fourth time is Carbon2.

Carbon2

I've investigated how to use it, but there isn't much information.

For the time being, I found the manual for Reaktor's Factory Library, so I will post a link.Unfortunately there was only an English version.

REAKTOR FACTORY LIBRARY manual

The manual for Carbon 276 is from P2.And again, unfortunately, it's only roughly explained.

How to use Carbon2

How to start Carbon2

Komplete KontrolStart Carbon2 from.

First,Komplete KontrolInto your DAW.

Unfortunately this Carbon 2Komplete KontrolIt cannot be opened directly from.

It opens via Reaktor, but it's easy to change presets and use macro knobs, so follow the steps below.Komplete KontrolWe recommend opening from.

Click the knob at the top of the screen to display the following screen.

Most people will choose a preset and change the sound a bit to their liking.

At that time, I will mainly focus on the parts that will be changed and post the explanation in a reverse-lookup manner.

Change Filter type

This is in the middle so you won't get lost, but for the time being. The types of filters are as follows

low-pass and high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters, a special feedback filter (called [Zwnl]), and apeak EQ and comb filter.

I haven't heard of the band reject filter, so I looked it up.

g200kgSince it was described on Mr.'s site, it is synonymous with the band elimination filter, so I will quote a part of the explanation of the band elimination filter. (Since it is written in more detail, if you are interestedg200kgPlease see Mr.'s site)

Band elimination filter

FilterIt is a kind of, and has the effect of attenuating only a certain range of frequencies.Bandpass fillTarIs in the opposite relationship.

Select your favorite filter from the drop-down list in the red frame below and move "Cut off" and "Resonance" to change the sound significantly, so you can enjoy it.

Change the pitch

For example, it is a change whether to sound C4 or C3 when C1 is pulled.I use it to find a pitch that suits me by changing it in octave increments on the bass or lead.

Click the Global tab at the bottom right and change the Coarse value.

1 is a semitone and 12 is an octave. The next "Fine" is 0.5, which is a semitone.

Mono, Poly, Legat changes

This is also "Global" at the bottom right. Select from the "Gate" drop-down list.

"Mono" can be played as a single note, and "Poly" can be played as multiple notes at the same time.
Also, "Legate" can be played smoothly without interrupting the sound.

"Uni Mono" and "Uni Poly" are simply whether to add a unison effect. The amount of effect can be adjusted with "Unisono" on the right.

ADSR changes

How to change attack, decay, sustain, and release.

I was in trouble because I couldn't find this at first.

You can change it with ADSR in the "EG1" tab by clicking the "Source" tab at the bottom right.

I'm not sure, but it doesn't change with EG2. There is a place like selecting routing under the "Level" knob in "Oscillators", so even if you change it to "e2" here ... it's quite a habit.2019 03 06 11x04 45

Demo sound source using Carbon2

Personally, Carbon 2 likes the bass sound. I made a little bit to make it fit Drum'n'Bass.

Only the base.

I added the drums. The drums have a stutter effect with Gross Beat.

Please refer to this article for how to use GrossBeat.

Summary

The sound of Carbon2 is very good, but honestly it's a little hard to use. Also, the sound is easily distorted internally and noise is added. It can be quite a hassle to change presets.

Well, it's free and I think it's good for using only presets.
