[Free] How to use Voxengo's IR loader Boogex

After reading the manual for a while, I found some discoveries, so I will write a commentary.

Please refer to the following article for downloading Boogex.

I will explain on a manual basis.

Emphasis EQ

2021 05 24 01x35 11

"Emphasis EQ" is not good, so I checked it and it was the correct behavior.

In a normal EQ, it seems to be an EQ applied to AMP.

The Enfasis Equalizer is for shaping the sound of an amplifier. This is a very powerful tone shaping stage. For more information on the features of this EQ control surface, see the Voxengo Primary User Guide.
The Emphasis EQ can overdrive certain regions of the spectrum more or less than others.
Lowpass and highpass filters are applied both before and after the amplifier module.

If you raise "Drive" of "AMP", "Emphasis EQ" will be effective.

I think this is very useful for those who play the guitar.

The low-pass filter and high-pass filter are ordinary EQs.

Pre-EQ

Used to filter the input signal. This is usually useful if your guitar pickups are too bass or too treble. This EQ can also be used to shape the sound.
The Gate “module enables gating of the input signal (applies before the Pre EQ stage). The slider adjusts the threshold level of the gate.

This is the same as a normal EQ.

Click "GATE" to enable "GATE".

Amps

Here you can select the type and mode of the amplifier.Even if the type is the same, if the mode is different, the difference may not be noticeable. The type 2 amplifier imitates a three-stage valve amplifier.
The "Drive" knob specifies the amount of amplification in decibels. The "Pre EQ Mix" knob (unit:%) allows you to mix the gated input signal (pre-equalized signal) with the distorted signal before entering the convolution process of the speaker cabinet.
If the "Amp" stage is disabled, the convolution process operates in stereo mode.In this case, set the “Pre EQ Mix” knob to “100” to bypass the Emphasis EQ stage additionally, or leave it at a low value if you want low-pass or high-pass filtering.

There are 10 types of "Amp", XNUMX types of mode XNUMX and XNUMX types of type XNUMX.

To change, click next to "Amp" to switch between types XNUMX and XNUMX.

I prepared a video.

You can use stereo IR by turning off "Amp".

Cabinet Sim / Convolver

For the impulse response of the speaker cabinet, select the model (and microphone) of the speaker cabinet to be used.It is possible to load external audio files (WAVE, Wave64, AIFF), but be aware that large files can quickly overwhelm the CPU.
The "X" button unloads the currently loaded audio file and switches it to the internal impulse response selector.
The Amp Mix knob (in percent) specifies the amount of dry amplified sound to blend into the convolved sound.
The "Dyn" switch enables DynaCab processing.

You can read an external IR from "File", and once you read it, you can read the file in the same folder with the arrow. (splendid)

"Amp Mix" is a little misleading, but since it is the amount of dry sound mixed, the leftmost is the IR-only sound (WET), and the rightmost is the IR-less sound (DRY).

Then turn on the "Dyn" switch to enable DynaCab processing.

This is interesting.

Click "DynaCab" to edit.

DynaCab Editor

2021 05 24 02x29 14

When the "Dyn" switch is enabled, the "DynaCab" button becomes available.Pressing this button opens the "DynaCab Editor" window, which controls the processing of DynaCab.
Note that DynaCab does not include presets in this window as it requires fine-tuning to suit the input signal.
The process of DynaCab is simple by its nature. The Amp signal is processed by two independent convolution processors, each loaded with an impulse response.
It then dynamically mixes the outputs of these convolution processors.
This dynamic response comes from the signal output of the Pre EQ stage. This preserves the dynamics of the original guitar playing. Let's take a look at the graph that sways between Cab 1 “and“ Cab 2 ”. This graph shows which cabinet is currently dominant in the output signal.
Tuning DynaCab begins by choosing the right threshold. “Cab 1 Thrs” selects the upper (peak) threshold level of the Pre EQ stage signal that corresponds to the full output of “Cabinet 1”.Also, for Dyn Range, select the negative delta of the level of the Pre EQ stage signal that corresponds to the full output of Cabinet 2.That is, when the signal is loud, Cabinet 1's response takes precedence over DynaCab's output, but when the signal is quiet ("Dyn Range" decibels lower), Cabinet 2's response takes precedence. At the mid-level of the Pre EQ stage, both cabinets are mixed in different proportions. "Dyn Range" should be selected according to the dynamics of the guitar playing.
"Attack" and "Release" affect the timing characteristics of the envelope detector. To get a sharp response, it is recommended to reduce the values of both parameters.
By default, the impulse responses of both cabinets are loudness matched. The Cab 1 Gain “parameter can boost or cut the loudness of the output signal in Cabinet 1. In fact, it acts as an expander effect when gain boosting and as a compressor effect when gain cutting. Cab 1 Delay“ The parameter time-shifts the output of Cabinet 1 by the specified amount (milliseconds).Such a delay allows you to better adjust the impulse response of both cabinets and reduce comb filter artifacts.
The "Cabinet 1" and "Cabinet 2" selectors can read any impulse response, including reverb responses for special acoustic effects. In the ideal case, both impulse responses should match. For example, you can capture two impulse responses from a real guitar cabinet with high and low loudness levels.Unmatched impulse responses can be used for special sound effects, but finding a match can be a daunting task.
The "Topology" switch changes the topology of DynaCab processing. The "post" topology, which dynamically mixes the output signals of the two convolution processors, is straightforward, but the "pre" topology may be visually confusing. In the "Pre" topology, the "Amp" signal is first dynamically split into two paths, each of which is sent to its own convolution processor. Then simply sum the output signals of the two convolution processors. For example, if you have a short reverb on cabinet 2 and a long reverb on cabinet 2, a large input signal will have a short reverb and a small input signal will have a long reverb. In the "post" topology, the placement of these reverbs is different, and the output signal is switched between the two reverbs without any excitation effect. The "Pre" topology is usually a "fluid" sound, and the "Post" topology is a "punched" sound.

The description of DynaCab in the manual is quite long and difficult to understand.

The point is that you can switch between "Cabinet 1" and "Cabinet 2" according to the DynaCab dynamics.

It's difficult to use, but I think that if you are particular about the guitar, you can drive the settings considerably.

Stereo Reverb (Old SkoolVerb)

This set of knobs influences the subjective spatial image of the reverb.
The Pre-delay “parameter specifies the reverb pre-delay time (milliseconds).
It imitates the distance from the listener to the performer. The lower the value, the higher the density of the initial reflections.
The Space ”parameter specifies the virtual time (milliseconds) between reflections: effectively specifies the dimensions of the room. Setting extremely low values produces a“ plate reverb ”sound. , A dense reverberation is obtained.Higher values give the sound a whole reverb-like sound, with a more subdued reverb tail. Also, at higher values, it is more spacious
“Transparent reverb sound, suitable for full mix use.
The Time “parameter specifies the RT60 time of the reverb (the time it takes for the reverb volume to drop by 60 decibels) (in milliseconds). This parameter models both the size of the room and the overall damping.
The Width “parameter specifies the stereo width of the reverb (in percentages). This parameter mimics the width of the room at the listener's location.
The Gain “knob adjusts the loudness (decibel) of the reverb.

Reverb is available for free on VoxengoOld SkoolVerb.

There is nothing particularly difficult, so I will omit it.

[Free] Summary of how to use Voxengo's IR loader Boogex

This is amazing for free.

It's well built and I feel something close to Melda.

I didn't use Voxengo OldSkoolVerb because it's free, but I think it's better to touch it a little.
