How to distinguish subtle differences in plug-in parameters in FL Studio

Isn't there any difference even if you change it in the plug-in settings?

I often do.

This method is used in such a case.

The method is simple, you can cancel the difference by starting two of the same plug-ins and inputting them in reverse phase on one side.

If you set the two plug-ins to the same setting and move the parameters you want to hear separately, you can hear only the difference. (There is also a pattern that there is actually no difference even if you move the parameters)

For example, I'm Softube's "TapeI couldn't really tell the difference even if I changed the tape speed.

When I looked it up, when the "Amount" knob was the default "5", the "TEEP SPEED" was other than "30" and there was no change in the sound.

In the video below, "TEEP SPEED" is changed from the state where the settings of the two plug-ins are aligned.

There will be a slight noise when making changes, but it will be silent when the changes are complete.

After that, raise "AMPUNT" and change "TEEP SPEED" to hear the difference.

Depending on the parameters, the change may not occur depending on the conditions.

I don't want to do anything about this area, but I want to understand the difference in sound and change the parameters.

Then I will explain how to do it immediately.

How to distinguish subtle differences in plug-in parameters in FL Studio

You can do it by routing with a mixer, but it is overwhelmingly easier to do with "Patcher".

Here, I will explain how to use Patcher.

First, load "Patcher" into the mixer.

Then load the plug-in you want to compare.
(Only one is required)

Load "Fruity Stereo Shaper" here.

After loading "Fruity Stereo Shaper", open it and click "Mixing"-> "Invert" from the presets to load it.

Right-click on "Tape" and drag and drop "Save preset as" to the empty space in "Patcher".

Then connect as follows.

I made a video of the flow so far.

If you want to mute one, right-click the icon in the figure below to mute it.

If you want to change the parameters drastically, you can easily delete one, change the parameters, and copy again.

I prepared a video.

Summary

If you continue this method, your ears will be strengthened.

The point is to look for mistakes, so if the differences are clear, I think you can hear the differences when you listen to them as a whole.

I want to understand what kind of sound is added to saturation and use it.
