AudioDamage's Grind now available for free as a legacy plug-in
AudioDamage's Grind, which was sold normally, joined the ranks of legacy plug-ins and became free.
However,Grind supports VST3, and GUI resizing is possible.
I think that it became a legacy because it will not be updated in the future.
AudioDamage also has tons of legacy plugins available for free download.
Here are the plugins we have introduced.
It's already old, but I wrote a review, so please take a look.
Sound demo
I tried playing the preset with a bass sound.
It's quite low-pitched, so if you don't have a device that can reproduce the sound of Dry, you may not feel it is ringing much.
Grind is great because you can easily change the quality as well as the amount of distortion.
Good for bass and kick.
Overview
A true powerhouse of audio warfare, Grind does "damage" to Audio Damage. From subtle tube-style saturation to utterly deranged wavetable distortion, AD says Grind is the Swiss Army knife of sound design.
Grind consists of three main blocks: a wavetable lookup, an algorithmic saturation/distortion, and finally a multimode filter. The wavetable module takes the amplitude of the incoming signal and replaces the samples with one of 3 linearly interpolated wavetables.Window size and phase controls offer further tone shaping possibilities.
Algorithm module with 11 different distortion and saturation algorithms, from simple soft knee saturation to full sine warp.
There are 20 different filter models to choose from, from early “vintage digital” versions of the plugin to AD's modern analog model MS11 style lowpass/highpass synth filters.A tempo-synced LFO animates the filter frequency, while a final stage of soft clipping and DC filtering modulates the output.
Make no mistake, this is not a delicate and polite tool.Careful tweaking of the included presets allows for the usual filtering and saturation, but overall it's a noisy, snorting beast of a plug-in, best suited for full-metal audio destruction. .
Download
You can download it without registration.
After transitioning from the above link and scrolling a little, there is a "Grind" link.
Click the link to start the download.
Installation
When you unzip the downloaded file, there is a MacWin installer inside.
In the case of Win, the following screen will be displayed, but since it is downloaded from the official, it can be executed.
Click "Details".
Click Run.
After that, you can use it with the default installation, but if you don't want to install unnecessary things, just VST3 64bit is fine for most people.
Summary
As expected of AudioDamage.
It may be a new form of plug-in that becomes free with this legacy.
By making an old plugin free that will no longer be updated, it clearly signals that it will not be updated.
It also serves as an advertisement, so I think there are merits for developers as well.
Of course, it is free to use from the user side, and it is possible to grasp the tendency of the developer's plug-in.
It would be nice if this trend became mainstream in the future.
