Introduction and usage of MiniMeters that can use two modules even in the demo version
It's nice to be able to use MiniMeters for free.
A little while ago, I saw a lot of things on Twitter, so I looked it up and left it alone.
When I tried using it, there were some points that made me stumble if I was a beginner, so I wrote a commentary article.
I think there are quite a few people who have seen MiniMeters on Twitter.
This is the meter displayed on the screen.
Sound demo
Since MiniMeters itself is a plug-in like an analyzer, it does not emit sound.
Since the skin is prepared, I made a video of how to change it.
Limitations of the demo version
The demo version of MiniMeters has only two limitations:
・"DEMO VERSION" is displayed on the screen
Two meter types available (Waveform, LUFS/Peak)
The paid version can use 6 (Spectrogram, Waveform, Peak/LUFS, Stereometer, Oscilloscope, & Spectrum Analyzer).
Meters that can be used in the paid versionofficialPlease take a look.
Among them, "Waveform" and "LUFS/Peak" can also be used in the demo version.
waveform
It is a meter that displays a common waveform.
LUFS/Peak
It shows LUFS and peaks.
"DEMO VERSION" appears on the screen
The letters "DEMO VERSION" are displayed in the center of the "Waveform" screen as shown below.
It's a very gentle limit because it's a level that doesn't bother me so much.
Overview
MiniMeters is a simple standalone audio metering app for Windows, macOS and Linux.
You can monitor system audio*, any input, or insert the MiniMetersServer plug-in (VST3/AU/CLAP) at the end of your favorite DAW's master channel.
Customize your layout with horizontal bars (perfect for above and below audio tools) and pop-out modules.
* Not supported on all systems.See system audio capture support chart below.
System requirements
- Windows 10+, macOS 10.13+, Linux Kernel 5+.
- x86 (Windows, macOS, Linux) or Apple Silicon (macOS) processor
- Screen resolution 1280 x 720 or higher recommended
- Supports OpenGL 3.3 or later.
Download
You can download it without registration.
Transition from the above link and scroll down to "Download demo".
Click the appropriate OS button to start the download.
(In case of Win, it is in the middle)
Installation
I will explain the installation on Win.
Installation is easy as there is an installer.
Execute the downloaded "MiniMeters-demo-Setup-#.#.##.exe" by double-clicking it.
(# Is the version number)
The following screen* will appear, click "Details"
Click Run.
After that, you can proceed with the default, but it is easier to create a shortcut on the desktop.
Finally, you will be asked to restart, so if you click "Finish" with "Yes ...", it will automatically restart.
This completes the installation.
* This screen almost always appears in the free system.
To erase this, the author needs to purchase a certificate, so it can't be helped that it's free software.
However, be careful when downloading from non-official sources.
How to use (plugin)
"MiniMeters" is different from ordinary plug-ins in usage.
(It can also be used without a plug-in, but a plug-in is required when using ASIO.)
It doesn't matter which one comes first, but launch both the plug-in "MiniMetersServer" and the app "MiniMeters".
First, start your DAW and insert the plug-in "MiniMetersServer" into the mixer.
(usually master is better)
Next, start the application "MiniMeters".
If you created a shortcut during installation, the desktop will also have an icon.
Layout settings
You can adjust the size, so make it the size that fits your screen size.
If you want to run "MiniMeters" itself Alt + Drag.
As an option, you can switch between "Upin Window" and "Pin to Top".
If "Upin Window" is normal and "Pin to Top"always on topscreen is displayed.
I prepared a video.
Once the location is decided, it seems more convenient to set it to "Pin to Top".
How to change theme
Click "Settings" on the right side for settings
You can change various things just by selecting from "Themes".
There is also a theme called "Sound Forge".
Certainly this color is "Sound Forge".
How to end
Click "Quit" on the left to exit.
Other settings
If you're using ASIO, I don't think it's much of a problem, but if the buffer size doesn't match, "Waveform" won't display properly. (It can also occur in high-load projects, etc.)
If the buffer size does not match, it will not be displayed normally as shown below.
With the correct buffer size set:
Click "Settings" on the right side for settings
Change "Plugin Buffer Size" and it is OK if it is "Connected".
If it is "Underrun" as below, you need to increase the buffer size.
Input/output settings
"MiniMeters" can be used without plug-ins.
It is possible to display the sound of the OS as it is.
Click "Settings" on the right side for settings
Select from "Audio Device".
I will explain each.
Default Output Capture
This captures the audio device set in the OS and displays it on the meter.
Select here if you do not use a plug-in (MiniMetersServer).
However, it cannot be used with ASIO.
MiniMeters Plugin
Captures the input of the plugin (MiniMetersServer) and displays it in meters.
If it is a plug-in, it is possible to display the meter even in the ASIO environment.
The plug-in format is only VST3 on Win.
INPUT
Displays meters for the inputs of your audio interface.
Summary
It's free and works great.
Even if you pay, you can purchase it from $ 10, which is kind to your wallet.
For those who introduce songs on SNS, it is good to have it as one of the ways of expression.
I wonder if I'll buy it too
