Valhalla Super Massive updated to v2.5.0! ! (Also explains the update contents)

Valhalla Super Massive has reached version 2.5 and added 2 more reverb/delay modes! !

It's a little dangerous, isn't it?

Beyond free.

Let's get them all.

Please refer to the following article for an overview of Valhalla Super Massive itself.
(You can listen to the difference between each mode with a sound.)

I wrote about the update to version 2.0 in the following article.

Download

Downloading can be done without registration.

If you move from the above link and scroll to the bottom, you will find download links for Mac and Win respectively.

Installation

If you simply install the update, it will be overwritten, so you can install it as is.

In the case of Win, when you unzip the downloaded file, the installer is included, so install it.

If you do not use Protools during installation, remove AAX.

Also, since most DAWs are compatible with VST3, I think that only VST3 should be installed.

After the installation is complete, boot from your DAW and check the version.

If the version on the upper right is 2.5.0, the update is complete.

More presets have been added!

It's too amazing that even presets using new modes have been added.

The LATE 2022 presets folder contains a lot of presets using Scorpio and Libra modes.Use it as-is or as a starting point for your curiosity journey into Supermassive.

Explanation of the two added modes

Scorpio

Scorpio mode is similar to Gemini mode in many ways: fast attack, rapid building of echo density, more "traditional" reverb. The Scorpio's feedback path is very different from the lower DENSITY Gemini, and can sometimes sound like a complex ping-pong delay. Scorpio's Low EQ and High EQ filters are included in the feedback path, rather than outside it like in Gemini mode.

These seemingly subtle changes can make a big difference in sound. Scorpio's complex feedback path produces a lot of stereo width and a more "open" frequency response. Scorpio mode incorporates a High EQ filter in the feedback path to create a more realistic reverb sound where high frequencies decay over time. The Low EQ filter can remove a bit of low end for a non-boomy reverb decay, or cut a lot of low end for a reverb sound that tapers as it decays.

In "Scorpio" mode, the delay sound is scattered randomly to the left and right, and the treble decays with each feedback.

When "WARP" is 0, the sounds will sound at the same timing, and increasing it will increase the random density that spreads to the left and right.

Raising “DENSITY” will result in reverb.

Valhalla Supermassive's Libra mode has a slightly slower attack than Scorpio's, and when WARP and DENSITY are both 0, it can sound like a four times delay of the displayed DELAY length. With the WARP control turned up, the Libra quickly transforms into a very rich reverb with balanced modulation. The DENSITY control is filtered by a High EQ filter to introduce a shorter or more circular delay.

From the above, it can be said that Libra mode is suitable for rich modulation reverb with the most natural decay among Valhalla Supermassive. Low EQ is useful for filtering out the low frequency content as much as you want. High EQ creates organic high frequency damping.Balanced modulation for smooth-sounding choruses.

"Libra" mode is described in the description as "Valhalla Supermassive, which is suitable for rich modulation reverb with the most natural decay."

Raise “WARP” and “DENSITY” to get reverb.

I applied it to the drums as a reverb.

Summary

It is wonderful.

However, when the number of modes increases so far, the names and effects do not match.

A simple GUI is good, but I thought it would be nice to have a GUI that clearly shows the effect.
(It's free, so it's a luxury story...)
