[Free] Introducing the Audio Vitamins step sequencer Stochas

Music Software Bundles from Pluginboutique.com

I tried it because the step sequencer Stochas of Audio Vitamins has become open source.

You can aim for a fairly random element like this.

This article will be sent with the following contents.

・ Explanation of download method
・ How to make sound using Stochas

Download

The download used to be Github, but the site is now available and you can easily download the installer.

Go to the above link and download the installer.

How to make a sound using Stochas

It's easy to make a sound.

The point is that it outputs MIDI, so all you have to do is route MIDI out to the VST you want to play.

MIDI out settings on the Stochas side

Set "Output port" of "Setting" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.

MIDI in side settings

Next, set the MIDI in side.

We use Dexed here.

You can read more about Dexed in this article, so be sure to read it.

Set "Input port" of "Setting" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.

Now you can hear the sound.

I will write a little more detailed usage later.

    Long time no see!

I am working hard to achieve the quota for January, and it is almost completed, but I have relied on M1L for the step sequencer so far, so it took a lot of time.
There is no Bitwig step sequencer (it seems that you can use GRID, but there is no learning cost now).
If you like, I would appreciate it if you could tell me the recommended step sequencer.
Is this free?I will try using it from the next song!

By the way, I would like to comment on the usual digression, but Cubase support for VST2 seems to be quite suspicious at this point.
In particular, I saw that MIDI plug-ins do not work unless they are 3.
Since the routing area has been changed in VST3, Cubase itself seems to not work because it is made according to the routing of VST3.
Also, I think the worst thing is that Steinberg just made VST3 and didn't prepare the documentation properly.
For details, see the drawbacks of VST3 below.

I was also an engineer, so I think it's pretty dangerous to have no decent documentation.
That's why the developer of Serum clearly states that he will not make VST3.

      Sorry for my late reply.

      It's going well ~ It's wonderful.

I would like you to try HY-Pugins'sHY-SeqCollection2,HY-SEQ32Free version of.
It's free, but it's easy to use.

Thank you for the information! !
I see-it's highly likely that the lack of VST3 documentation isn't widespread.

It would be acceptable for Steinberg to support only VST3 for plug-ins, but I think it's a shame that Cubase will cut off support for VST2.

Even if I have VST2 and VST3 versions, I can't open them if I used VST2 in a past project.

      I really think so.
      Documents are essential, aren't they?
Considering that VST2004 was released (3) after Yamaha acquired it (2008), it may be that Yamaha is involved in VST3.
(I don't know if it was entwined in the same way)

By the way, HY-Plugins saw it several times in the article.
It was a paid image, but there was also a free plug-in.
When I saw the article about paid plug-ins, there was a Euclid sequencer, and there was a device-like function used in M4L, so I put it in the list of things to buy on sale.

I tried using Stochas in this article and it felt surprisingly good, so I'm going to go with this for a while.
You can set multiple patterns and switch them to change the fill and rhythm, which seems to be interesting.
If you watch Venus Theory's video, can you play with the parameters of the sound source? It looks like it, so I thought I'd check it out.
For the time being, I will use it as an ordinary step sequencer!

I will reply to you all at once.

If you are looking for a step sequencer, I think HY-Plugins is a good choice.

Stochas It would be nice to use it again.
          I completely forgot about it.

In the previous video by Venus Theory, it was a Bitwig randomizer with Serum parameters moving.
I'm sorry to say something appropriate.
By the way, I decided to use Bitwig after watching Venus Theory's video, so I'm quite influenced by it.

Venus Theory's video is good, isn't it?
          Bitwig is really great modulation.
I don't think this can be imitated by other DAWs.
(I think it is necessary to review the engine and flow from scratch)
