Primavera sale information

Pulsar Audio has released Primavera, which includes six spring reverb models.

To begin with, until now spring reverb plug-ins have only been able to reproduce one or two models.

AUDIOTHING'sSPRINGSThere are 11 types, by Waves.Magma Springsis equipped with 7 types, but I think they are IR, so they cannot be compared.

However, this time Primavera seems to be putting a lot of effort into it, with six models with very different characters.

6 models

I tried to find the sound of each actual machine.

Twang

This model is not inspired by any specific equipment, but by a guitar amp.

"Twang" is monaural only, and the "WIDTH" parameter is invalid when this model is selected.

The video is of Fender Spring Reverb.

Twang:This tank was inspired by the guitar amps that popularized spring reverb. Commonly used in classic instrument amplifiers such as Fender, this reverb delivers the lo-fi sound you've come to expect from vintage gear, with tons of character and color.

HR12

Hawk HR-12 Spring Reverb.

It is made by a Japanese manufacturer called Hawk Giken.

HR12: A very lo-fi type reverb made in Japan in the late 60s. Ideal for those looking for vintage-like colors and the characteristic spring "boom" sound. Simple, dirty, and effective, this tank has almost no low end, so the initial attack of the spring is clearly audible, giving it that lo-fi flavor.

SR202

Pioneer SR-202was manufactured from 1971 to 1977stereo spring reverbIt is a unit. This unit was intended to be inserted into a stereo system to add reverb to records and recordings. It can be used as a great stereo spring reverb for personal recordings. Its unique appearance is a cool design with a green light on the front that changes color depending on the intensity of the reverb.1

This is a spring reverb made by Pioneer, which is no longer available.

SR202: Based on the legendary hi-fi consumer reverb, this tank has a dark sound with a distinct reverb tail beat. The least dense of the company's reverb selections, it has a vivid "flutter" color, perfect for adding realism to your sources.

Tubby

This is not a model of a real machine, but a spring reverb that reproduces the sound of King Tubby.

The video is a song by King Tubby.

Tubby: If you're looking for colors like old school dub music, this tank will give you a very round, watery sound and a big beat. Sending several sources to this reverberated bus is perfect for adding subtle changes to your track. A nostalgic effect that is effective for brass, blank keys, guitar, etc.

RE201

This is a model that extracts only the reverb part of Roland's "Echo RE201".

It sounds like a plate reverb.

RE201: Based on Roland's classic Echo RE201, this tank is the most versatile compared to other options. It has a dense and diffuse reverberation tail and can be adapted to any genre of source. Great for lead vocals and when you want to add some excitement and color.

Great British Spring

History on Reverb.comThere was, but the value was around 10.

Great British Spring: Produces a very dense and open sound. The cleanest reverb of any plugin, perfect for vocals and other elements that need to shine in the mix.

Primavera sound demo

First, I tried playing the six characters with a snare.

"Twang" is monaural only.

The characters are quite different, so it's really good.

I tried playing it while changing parameters on a Dub guitar.

I tried using it only on the snare of the drum.

This is pretty good because you can easily change the character.

Primavera Overview

Timeless organic vintage reverb
Spring reverbs are extremely popular vintage audio equipment, but their rarity and high price keep them out of reach for many. Known for their unique, warm, individual and organic tones, these reverbs forged their sonic identity from the '50s to the '70s and are back in vogue today.

Pulsar Primavera is a 6-in-1 reverb plugin featuring devices that have been used in countless hit songs throughout the ages. From lo-fi to hi-fi, each tank precisely emulates the electronic and mechanical behavior of the original unit. Additionally, the unique spring tension and excitation controls offer a broader sonic palette than typical convolution models.

This software is a complete reverb chain plugin that integrates saturation, filter, presence, and ducking controls. Packed with next-generation features and a user-friendly interface, get the signature "twang" tones that shaped music history.

Realistic spring reverb emulation

Most digital spring reverbs sample rather than model a real unit, resulting in a flat sound and poorly set up. Real-time physical modeling frees Pulsar Primavera from these limitations and allows you to manipulate physical reverberation parameters such as spring tension and excitation, opening up unique and creative sound design possibilities.

Spring vibration can be influenced manually or through modulation (and automation) and can be used as a creative sound design effect. More than just a fun and interactive way to play with reverb springs, this feature opens up the possibility of some really interesting effects.

Tension, Excitation: The Tension knob changes the reverb character by adjusting the physical model of spring tension. Softer or higher pitched. The Excitation knob dynamically triggers the familiar spring explosion sound and adds a creative touch to your sound design. Simulates the subtle impact of a spring as the instrument's attack passes through the plug-in.

Ducking, Presence (Output):: Ducking control allows you to create dense and distinct reverberations without clashing with other elements of the song. This knob reduces the level of reverberation based on the plug-in's (or sidechain input's) input volume, keeping the overall signal clear when the audio kicks in and preserving space between musical phrases. Additionally, we've added a Presence tone control that boosts specific frequency bands carefully selected to help your reverb stand out in the mix.

Decay, Width, Predelay: The Predelay and Decay knobs adjust the reverb effect with precision in time. Predelay increases clarity with a delay before the reverb is applied, and Decay adjusts the length of the reverberation to suit various music scenes. The Width control lets you adjust the reverb's stereo image.

Drive, Tube, EQ (preamp): With the built-in EQ filter, you can easily blend the reverb to your liking or make it three-dimensional. The Drive knob allows you to adjust the presence of the tube circuit, which emphasizes the saturation of the high frequencies. You can also toggle between two saturation modes if you want to add some hardness to the tail of your reverb. Germanium is compatible with the famous reverb transistor preamp used in dub music, and Tube is compatible with warm pentode-type vacuum tube amps.

Great British Spring: Produces a very dense and open sound. The cleanest reverb of any plugin, perfect for vocals and other elements that need to shine in the mix.

Variety of artist-designed presets

Pulsar Primavera has hundreds of presets for a solid starting point and quick inspiration. Refine your sound with presets carefully crafted by producers and mixing engineers. With so many options available, we highly recommend digging carefully to find the sonic treasures.

What about the sound?

Drums: Especially in reggae and dub music, you'll often hear recordings with spring reverb added to the snare. This effect later influenced rock bands, and springy snares began to be used in a variety of styles. For a softer finish, you can use Primavera's pre-delay to lower transients and calm the sound. You can also create beautiful drum-type sounds by kicking the springs! Combine with delays, gated envelopes, and other effects for unique sound designs.

Vocal Spring Reverb's deep, metallic tone brings a raw edge to your sound. As such, it is often used by rock bands to add hardness to vocal tracks. Additionally, using spring reverb on vocals is a smart choice when you need to place the vocals in a separate space from other elements of the arrangement.

Guitar For those looking for a timeless vintage electric guitar sound, Primavera is the ideal choice. Spring reverb plays an important role in achieving realistic guitar tones, and this plug-in could be the missing link to the perfect guitar sound you're looking for, or just another color of possibility. It might become.

Synth: If you're a Moog fan (or just a synth in this genre), Spring Reverb is your instant vintage preset to quickly revamp and add texture to your tracks. For VST synths, Primavera introduces a delicate, natural grit for a more organic feel.

Features

Drive and Saturation Mode: Adjust the saturation level of the input preamp with the Drive knob. The Tube/Ger selector allows you to select the preamplifier circuit (pentode or germanium transistor amplifier) used before the reverb. Uniquely, this saturation also applies to dry sounds.

Tension: The Tension parameter changes the tension of the simulated spring, changing the character of the reverb. Increasing the tension will make the spring stiffer, making the reverb tail beat faster and emphasizing the high frequencies. Conversely, lowering the tension softens the feel, slows down the beat, and emphasizes the low frequencies of the reverberation.

Excitement: The Excitation knob can simulate the shaking of a spring, similar to when you click with a mouse. When this feature is enabled, the spring oscillates in response to input sound transients. This emphasizes the spring reverb's characteristic "boom" effect, allowing for creative sound design.

Ducking: If you're familiar with the kick/bass sidechain technique used on compressors, the ducking knob applies the same concept. Easily clear up your mix by controlling a compressor that lowers the reverb level as instruments and voices pass through it.

Vibrating Springs: By “kicking” the spring with a mouse click, you can get the “boo” sound that is characteristic of spring reverbs. This feature perfectly captures the spirit of the Spring Reverb Unit, allowing you to play with your device and find inspiration in a fun and rewarding way.

Predelay and Decay:: You can use the Decay knob to shorten or lengthen the length of the reverb tail. You can also use Predelay to adjust the delay between the original signal and the start of the reverberation. The higher the value of the Predelay knob, the better the separation between the direct and reverb sounds.

Width:Pulsar Primavera includes a Width knob that allows you to control the stereo image of the reverb.
A setting of 0 makes the reverb mono; a setting of 10 corresponds to the maximum stereo width of the selected spring tank. By controlling the width, you can maintain a more realistic and “raw” sound depending on the instrument the effect is applied to.

Presence: This knob slightly emphasizes the upper-mids of the reverb signal, increasing the reverb's presence in the mix. Leave the original signal alone, or push the treble to cut out other elements of the track and make the reverberant tones more audible.

External Sidechain: Ducking can optionally be configured to use external sidechain signals. In this case, you will need to route another audio track to your DAW's plug-in sidechain input, and that track will be used to calculate the reverb ducking. One use for this could be to make the guitar reverb more subtle and free up space when a synthesizer is also playing.

Filter: Built-in 12dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters to clean up your source before sending it to the reverb. These filters are processed immediately after the preamp emulation stage, and at their minimum value they become inactive after the notch.
