Fanan's "999" is a MIDI plug-in, so "999" alone will not produce sound.
In this article, I will explain how to make sounds and how to use them.
All explanations are based on FL Studio.
Settings for making sound
"999" is a MIDI plug-in.
You can output MIDI notes from "999" and play other sound sources.
SoIn order to use "999", you need a sound source to play other sounds.
Then I will explain it immediately.
Read "999" and the sound source.
The sound source here is "SpiralsIs used.
(I think the plaque and lead sounds go well with "999")
"999" MIDI settings
Open "999".
Set "Output port" of "Settings" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.
MIDI settings for "Spire"
Then open "Spire".
Set "Output port" of "Settings" to "0" from the gear icon on the upper left.
Now you are ready to go.
How to use 999
First, let's make a sound.
When using "999", I think the best way to understand the effect is to type in the chord progression.
For example, if you play the following code, it will look like this.
From here, I will write in reverse lookup.
How to select 999 Arp patterns
The currently selected Arp pattern is displayed in the upper right.
In the figure below, it is "534".
And you can change the unit of 100's place, 10's place, 1's place by drag and drop.
Switch ARP via MIDI
Up to 12 ARPs can be assigned to "SELECT ARP" and can be switched using MIDI notes. (You can, butNot recommended)
All you have to do is select the "SELECT ARP" number and select "ARP" from 999.
When switching with MIDI notes, click "GUI". You can decide the range of notes to switch.
However, we do not recommend switching ARP with MIDI notes.
The reason is that depending on the timing, the MIDI note for switching will make a sound.
Please watch the video below.
The MIDI note selected in red is for switching, but can you tell that the sound is sounding?
Export ARP
As an alternative, I think it would be better to export ARP with the "Burn to MIDI" function of "FL Studio". (It didn't work in automation)
Please refer to the following article for how to use "Burn to MIDI".
If you find an ARP that you like, you should write it out at random.
Adjust the ARP sound length (GATE)
You can change the "GATE" of ARP.
However, even if you change only "999", it will not change in most cases unless you change the settings on the sound source side.
In the video below, I adjusted the Release of Spire so that the length of the sound changes with "Gate" of "999".
Summary
It's a bit tough to get sound when switching ARP via MIDI.
It's free, so it's not something to complain about, and it's not fatal because you can use it enough with the Burn to MIDI function.
However, it would be great if it could be supported by updates.
