Introducing Solostuff's Virtual Modular SoloRack (Win Only)

The virtual modular was Softube, VoltageModular, and VCV Rack, but here comes the fourth force.

I think it's the most balanced virtual modular at the moment when VCV Rack v2 hasn't been released yet.

The CPU load is very low, the sound is sufficient, and the operability is good.

SoloRack is not free, but it is very interesting so I will introduce it.

It's a demo version, but I tried it.

There is noise on a regular basis.

Even with the presets playing in this video, the CPU load was up to about 7% in the environment of Core i4770-3.5K XNUMXGHz. (Super light!)

I recorded how to switch presets at high speed.

Even with this, the CPU load is about XNUMX% to XNUMX% empty.

Solostuff SoloRack overview and download

SoloRack is a modular synthesizer that mimics the operability and functionality of a hardware Eurorack modular system.Whether you're an experienced Eurorack user or a software-only user, you'll find new discoveries in most modules.A wide variety of modules are available, designed with attention to detail. It also maintains its affinity and similarity with Eurorack for ease of use and seamless integration into the Eurorack system.

Main functions

-There is no limit to the number of modules and rack rows.
-Currently, System B is equipped with various modules.Oscillator modules, filters, amplifiers, mixers, panners, ADSRs, VCLFOs, random sample holds, noise modules, delay modules, chorus modules, reverb modules, ring modulators, CV sequencers, trigger sequencers, etc. In addition, various utilities such as input / output module, MIDI to CV, tempo from DAW, clock divider, logic tool, switch, CV tool, etc. are prepared.
-Can operate as an effect with multiple inputs and outputs.
-Supports 14bit and 7bit MIDI. (Currently using LSB / MSB). )
Polyphony is possible by manually patching as it is done in hardware. It is also possible to use the sequencer module.
-Supports Multichannel MIDI.Can be used to realize multi-timbral voice.
All MIDI patchpoints and MIDI cable wiring between modules work at audio rates.
-Supports bidirectional patchpoints that can perform both input and output at the same time. For example, like the Eurorack module like a switch.
-Provides a ridiculous amount of oversampling (up to X256).This is not a zero stuffing or interpolation method. This is actually increasing the sampling rate inside the synth. This means that it can handle supersonic audio. These features are provided for quality conscious people and cannot be handled by current CPUs! !! ..
-Audio rate modulation for any CV input.Ultrasound modulation is also possible during oversampling.
-Minimum internal sample block size (1 sample) minimizes delays between modules.
-Designed with CPU efficiency in mind.Optimization is done at each stage of development, not just the final stage.
-Supports connection with modular hardware (including Eurorack). Equipped with 10 audio / CV inputs and 12 audio / CV outputs. Note Low frequency CVs require an interface with DC-coupled inputs and outputs.Alternatively, use a dedicated module such as Expert Sleepers (TM) ES-6 or ES-3.
-Currently, 220 types of presets are available (additional variations).
・ We are planning to add modules in the future. Some are included as part of System B, while others are sold separately.

The demo version only makes noise at regular intervals, so you can play to some extent.
(There was no time limit and it was possible to recall by saving the DAW)

Solo Rack does not have standalone, only plug-in version (VST2 64bit / 32bit).

SoloRack is good because there are many modules that are very close to the actual machine, and the operability is good.

Sales price

SoloRack is free on the side itself and the module is charged.

However, I think that System B ($ 81) bundled with the main module (110) is essential.

It's currently on sale for $ 80.

Various modules sold separately are also sold additionally.

ShopModules priced in are modules that are not included in System B.

How to use Solostuff Solo Rack

After installing Solostuff SoloRack, scan it with your DAW and you will be able to use the sound source (SoloRack.x64) and effects (SoloRackFX.x64).

For some reason, plug-ins called "SoloRack" and "SoloRackFX" also appear, but when I checked this, it was 64bit. (I'm not sure about this)

Load preset

Basically, there are a lot of presets (220), so I think it's fun for those who like modular just to play with this.

The presets can be displayed by clicking the upper left frame.

You can send and return with the left and right icons.

The great thing is that most presets are set to receive MIDI notes from your DAW, so you won't fall into the modular nature of not knowing how to make a sound.

Change GUI size and skin

If the knob etc. is small or large, you can change the size in XNUMX patterns.

Click the red frame in the figure below and select the standard skin size from "Skin"-> "Classic".

There are also XNUMX types (XNUMX sizes) of other skins.

If you change the skin or size, you will need to reread the plugin.

In FL Studio, click "Reload plugin" from the gear icon to reload.

Summary

Solostuff Solo Rack is pretty good.

I feel that all the dissatisfaction I had with other virtual modulars has been resolved.

Solostuff SoloRack I'd like it, but I can't afford it because it's before BF, so I'm leaving it for a while.

VCV Rack v2 will be released, and it seems that troublesome days will continue.
