Clip offers a choice of hard or soft clippers to prevent signal clipping while adding harmonic distortion to the sound. In combination with the Punch knob, it is very effective for coloring with distortion while suppressing peaky transients.

The hard clipper distorts aggressively from the start, while the soft clipper sounds warm and "round" when driven.
