Voltage Modular 2.0 breaks the boundaries of patches and includes breakthrough new features that allow you to build complex patches with fewer cables.
Previously, Voltage Modular used a combination of six jacks for each jack.With version 6, you can plug an unlimited number of cables into all jacks, allowing unlimited modulation.
The new bus feature provides an ingenious new way to build complex patches and eliminates tedious cables.Both input and output jacks can be assigned to the bus.All output signals on the bus are mixed and the result is available as an input source for all input jacks.It mimics the alternative patching options offered by instruments such as the ARP 2500 and EMS VCS 3.
In addition, Voltage Modular 2.0 allows you to create modules that normalize the signals on the IO panel.Modules such as the new DCO-60 and SynthVoice can read CVs, gates and all other signals directly from the IO panel, eliminating the need to patch cables each time a new module is added.
The new variation feature takes modular synthesis in an unprecedented new direction.A patch can contain an unlimited number of variations, and each variation stores the location of all knobs, switches, and module settings contained in the patch.Variations can be played individually, or you can use triggers and CVs to move variations in endless ways.Imagine a sequence that repeats a completely different timbre for each note, or a sound that alternates between bright and soft timbres each time you press a key.
The IO panel has a built-in recording section that produces a 32-bit floating point audio file from the left and right main outputs of the IO panel.You can easily record your entire live performance, or use the gate signal to automatically start and stop recording.
Software that works with you
Voltage Modular 2.0 offers endless workflow improvements.Some can speed up your workflow, while others can inspire you to create new sounds or work in new ways.
To move all the cables connected to one jack at the same time, hold down the Shift key while dragging. Ctrl-Tab hides and shows all cables at once.Looking for a specific module? Press Ctrl-F to immediately go to the module search box.Without these simple, wild and effective features, you would wonder how you would have lived.
We've added a number of new categories to help you organize your module library, but this is just the beginning.Custom module categories can be created for any module in the collection, and you can add unlimited search terms to modules to make it easier to find the module you're looking for.
Use the new randomization feature to set the module's sliders, buttons, switches and other controls to random positions to create stunningly exciting results for your sequencer or sound generator.A new bypass feature available for compatible modules allows you to temporarily remove a module from a patch and hear the effect of individual modules on complex sounds quickly and easily.
The ability to automatically place all modules to the left is a great way to organize the layout of modules and fill gaps, and you can switch between cabinets.You can also set the new cabinet automatically to use the auto-alignment feature.
Voltage Modular 2.0 further improves the workflow.
Voltage Modular 2.0 has a thrilling new look. Many of Cherry Audio's modules have been reworked to make them easier to use, more powerful and more compact.For example, we've added linear FM modulation to the Oscillator module, resonance modulation to the Filter module, dual channel to the Oscilloscope, and tempo sync to the Stereo Delay module.The legacy Cherry Audio module will be updated in the coming months.
The Core package includes new Poly Vintage Oscillator, Poly Ladder Filter, Poly Super Oscillator, Poly Super Envelope Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, MIDI File Player, and Micro Mult modules.These new modules are free for those with the Voltage Modular Core package.There are many new presets, as well as new presets for the Nucleus and Ignite packages.
