Introducing VARIETY OF SOUND's Thrillseeker VBL mkII (Win only)

VARIETY OF SOUND's Thrillseeker VBL mkII was released today, so I'd like to introduce it here.

Recently, I've only been introducing JSFX plugins, but VARIETY OF SOUND's plugin is one that I can confidently recommend for VST.

ThrillseekerVBL had only 32bit version, but it became mkII and corresponded to 64bit.

Sound demo

I put it on the drum of XO.

The gain is matched, the effect is OFF at first and the effect is ON in the middle.

The feeling of saturation is also good.

Overview

The ThrillseekerVBL is an emulation of a vintage broadcast limiter design following the classic variable mu design principles of the early 1950s.These tube-based devices were originally used to prevent audio overload in broadcast transmissions by managing sudden level changes in the audio signal. From today's point of view this device is rather slow when compared to a digital dynamics processor and can be considered more of a gain structure leveler. But if you do gain riding in a very musical way they still shine – they wrote warmth and mojo.

ThrillseekerVBL is a modified version that not only has a basic gain control, but also gives you detailed access to both the compression behavior and the saturation effect characteristics of tube circuits.By overdriving this circuit, you can get even more dramatic musical textures.

ThrillseekerVBL models not only the typical low-frequency harmonic distortion, but also all the frequency- and load-dependent subtleties that occur in tube circuits coupled with transformers, from the analog classics we know to the typical Mojo. It provides a very authentic audio transformer simulation that contributes.

New in version 2
With the mkII version, the peak limiter is no longer the main task, but improved for a versatile and musically expressive gain control and thrilling saturation experience.Saturation is integrated with compression, ideal for processing transient-heavy material. Both compression and saturation work and can be controlled independently.

In addition, the high frequency loss caused by the circuit has been almost eliminated, and the brilliance control, which was originally intended for correction, can now play a role like an exciter. The bias control has been extended to allow adjustment of the second harmonic contribution and saturation behavior in the transient regions of the signal, allowing for more detailed shaping of the harmonic spectrum. In addition, the transformer circuit has also undergone a technical review, making it possible not only to express subtle nuances realistically, but also to reproduce a tight sound image overall.

ThrillseekerVBL has become a real tone box capable of reproducing a wide range of tones.Providing access to attack and release behavior, all compression controls can also affect signal saturation, even when the compression function is off. This allows you to achieve a particular texture of signal saturation.Just like with good old outboard gear, you can achieve the desired sonic coloring simply by controlling the working range. And if you overuse it, just drop a gear with the DRY/WET control.

Additionally, UI elements have also been added that give more visual feedback to improve the user experience.Oversampling was added, but the actual CPU load was significantly reduced due to efficient algorithms and optimizations in the assembler code.

Download

You can download it without registration.

After transitioning from the above link and scrolling down a little, you will find "ThrillseekerVBL", so click "download".

When I tried it, it took more than 30 seconds from clicking to starting the download.

Please wait patiently.

Installation

When you unzip it, you will find "ThrillseekerVBLmkII (64).dll" in the 64bit folder, so put it in the VST2 folder.

Most VST2 folders are one of the following:

C:Program FilesVSTPlugIns
C \ Program Files \ Steinberg \ VST Plugins
C \ Program Files \ Steinberg \ Cubase \ VSTPlugins
C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ VST2
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2

Summary

It's still a nice looking plugin.

For those who make songs with free plug-ins, this is a plug-in you want to have.
