Reason11 Rack Plugin Thorough Review (Explanation of the cheapest purchase method)
This is yosi from Chillout with Beats.
・ 2020/7/10 The lowest price information has been reviewed.
・ 2020/04/19 MIDI out is also supported by minor version upgrade, so some articles have been updated.
・ Since the sale of Reason 11 has started in Japan, we have reviewed the lowest price information.
I think many people are interested in Reason 11 which can also be used as a plug-in.
This review focuses on usability when using Reason as a Plugin from another DAW, rather than using it as a DAW.
In conclusion, it is recommended for the following users.
(Former Reason license holders highly recommend Suite)
・ People who want Europa
・ People who have devices that appeal to Reason's synths and effects
・ People who own an old Reason license and like synths
・ People who are looking for a synth that has a low CPU load and is easy to use.
・ People who like modular
・ I don't own the old license of Reason and I run out of money
・ I want a library of live musical instruments rather than synth sounds
Review the following points in detail.
・ Various IN and OUT degrees of freedom
・ Usability as a synth
・ Usability as an effect
Overview of Reason 11

Note) The upgrade price from Intro to Standard is the same as other Lite etc.
How to buy at the lowest price
Rewritten to match the price of 2020/7/10.
Previously, Yahoo Shopping was the cheapest, but the campaign is over and the equilibrium is upset.
I will write the conclusion first.
Since the handling of Reaon has started in Plugin Butiqe,If you can wait for the sale, it is best to buy it at Plugin Butiqe at the time of sale.
In the sense of the cheapestAudio DeluxeMaybe, but considering the points, Rewards and the bonus of the month XNUMX, Plugin Butiqe will be better off.

Price in Japan
Since the Yahoo campaign is over, the benefits of buying in Japan have dropped dramatically.
If you can get points by buying around at Rakuten and if you need Japanese language support, buy it at a Japanese retailer.
・Standard cheapest is Yahoo (39,900 [6985 points awarded])
・ Suite is the cheapest on Yahoo (59,900 [9985 points awarded])

However, if you are attracted to Instruments and Players, Suite is the only option.
CPU load
CPU is measured at Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz.
The default state of FL Studio is as follows.
It uses 236MB of memory with Reason Rack running.
The above figure is shown on the selection screen below.
Europe
Europa, which seems to be relatively heavy, has been started.
It was 5% to 13% with simultaneous pronunciation of 18 sounds. It's a little heavy.
Grain
Next is Grain, which seems to be relatively heavy, but it consumes memory, but the CPU load is low.
It was 5% to 5% with simultaneous pronunciation of 6 sounds.
I tried some presets, and although there were some presets that went up a little, the load was less than 10%.
Thor
It sounds heavy, but it's pretty light.
It was 5% to 3% with simultaneous pronunciation of 4 sounds.
Kong
It's a light Kong. It's actually light. However, it is expensive whether the memory is not released.
When I erased Reason Rack itself and read it again and started Kong, it became as follows.
It was 5% to 2% with simultaneous pronunciation of 3 sounds.
Others
The following is a simple note because it was quite light even when 5 sounds were pronounced at the same time.
Dr.OctoRex: 2%
ID8: 2%
NN-19: 2%
NN-XT: 2%
One thing I was concerned about is that loading a synth and loading another synth tends to increase memory usage.I wondered if it would decrease over time, but when I repeated it, it exceeded 1GB for the following, even though I had only read one.
If you simply delete Reason Rack and load it again, the memory will be released, so you don't need to worry about it. (If it is a DAW, save it once and open it again to release the memory and reduce the usage.)
Various IN and OUT degrees of freedom
Personally, I was most interested in Audio and MIDI routing.
Audio routing
Audio routing is quite flexible.
It's close to Patcher in the sense of FL Studio users.
Audio Input Output
Reason Rack has 4 Audio Ins (2 can be used as a side chain) and 32 Outs.
You can start multiple Reason Racks and use the mixer internally, so you can think that there are almost no restrictions.
Internal Mixer (Stereo 6ch on the top, Stereo 16ch on the bottom)
Paraout
All Samper systems can be para-out.
There is also an AUX OUT for Kong.
Since you can add a Mixer, you can apply effects with Reason Rack or return them to your DAW all at once.
MIDI routing
To be honest, I'm the only disappointment about this.
In conclusion, MIDI OUT cannot be done from Reason Rack.
As shown in the figure below, there is no MIDI-related routing.
Therefore, Reason Rack cannot send LFOs or MIDI Notes to other VSTs.
Powerful for ReasonDual Arpeggios(Arpeggiator),Quad Note Generator(Riff generator)Scales & Chords(Code generator),Drum Sequencer(Drum sequencer) etc. are installed, but these cannot be sent to VST.
CV routing
It has less freedom than modular, but is the same as a modular CV.
Since the back panel of each device has CV In and Out, it can be modulated using CV generate type devices.
With CV Merger & Splitter, you can split or merge CVs into multiple pieces.
It is also possible to operate multiple devices from one LFO.
Usability as a synth (good point)
・ CV can be freely assigned and parameters can be modulated.
・ Parameter automation can be performed from the DAW.
・ Undo Redo can be done
You can freely assign CVs and modulate parameters.
You can operate the CV quite freely in Reason Rack and it is easy to use.
(The point is that you can modulate the parameters of other synths with a sequencer, LFO, etc.)
I think again, this is really good.
I took a simple video.
I'm using a Pulsar Dual LFO and a Matrix Pattern Sequencer.
The randomize function of the Matrix Pattern Sequencer is used to generate a sequence, and the Pulsar Dual LFO is assigned to the Cutoff of the Filter and modulated.
CV generate device
Matrix Pattern Sequencer
If you're interested in 70's-style modular synths, or want to play with an analog-style sequencer that has virtually everything in your rack, try Matrix.
Back panel
RPG-8
Turn boring chords into fluttering melody lines with RPG-8, Reason's creative arpegulation tool.
Back panel
Parameter automation from DAW
Speaking of course, it is natural, but you can freely automate the parameters from FL Studio as well.
The image below is a part of Europa's parameters as seen from FL Studio.
I tried operating it from the Fruity Peak Controller, but I like the Europa sound quite a bit.
Unfortunately, as I wrote in Midi Routing, it is a place where Midi related exchanges can not be done with DAW.
This is the only place I would like you to support with a version upgrade.
Added support for MIDI out in Reason 11.2!
Undo Redo can be done
The point that there is Undo Redo is also quite high.
Undo Redo can hardly be done with ordinary VSTi.
It's great because it's a feature that users want because it can do various things internally like Reason Rack.
Usability as a synth (bad point)
・ The color of the cable cannot be changed
-You need to click "Flip Rack" at the top of the screen to display the back panel.
It is a minor one that is a little inconvenient to use.
I can't change the color of the cable
Is it random that the color of the cable is different between audio and CV?It seems that the color changes a little, but I can't keep up with it as the amount increases.
It is quite difficult to see even in the figure below, which is not a large amount.
Usability as an effect
The effect is also really good.
Just because it can be used as VST makes it much more convenient.
Synchronous,Pulveriser Demolition Unit,The Echo,Audiomatic Retro TransformerWas taken in a video.
SynchronousI quite liked. (Included with Reason 11 Standard and above)
Actually Reason
Reason11 Rack Plugin Thorough Review Summary
Summarize.
If you're an old Reason licensee and you like synths, don't lose it.It was a littleGet this many updates for the price of one synthBecause.
Actually, Europa costs $ 149, but Intro cuts 1.
(Actually 8 yen or less considering points etc.)
If you buy Europa + α, you should buy Intro.
If you don't have the old Reason license, we recommend you to try the demo version for the time being.
(Unlimited use of Standard version for 30 days)
Comment
Hello.
The other day's update made it compatible with MIDI OUT!
Hello.
Thank you for contacting us.
I will update the article.
Having MIDI OUT is a really big advantage.
In July, you can get Reason Lite Rack Plugin by buying something at Plugin Boutique.
So, I installed the Reason Lite Rack Plugin, but for the following reasons
The file'Factory Sound Bank.rfl' could not be found. Please reinstall Reason to fix the problem.
Nothing started up with only a pitch-black screen. Mac mini os 10.15.5 Uses the latest Logic Pro 10.5.
I would appreciate it if you could understand.
Mac is so refreshing that honestly it doesn't help much,
The message itself is that "Factory Sound Bank.rfl" is not in the specified location.
Reason will not start unless "Factory Sound Bank.rfl" is in the specified location.
For Mac The following locations are the default locations.
Mac: / Library / Application Support / Propellerhead Software / Soundbanks
Is "Factory Sound Bank.rfl" included here?
We apologize for the delay in replying, and thank you for your polite response.
"Factory Sound Bank.rfl" is
Mac: / Library / Application Support / Propellerhead Software / Soundbanks / Reason Lite 11
Was inside.As a test
Mac: / Library / Application Support / Propellerhead Software / Soundbanks /
When I moved "Factory Sound Bank.rfl" to and restarted it to launch Reason Lite 11, it didn't work with the same error.
thank you for your reply.
The location looks good in the "Reason Lite 11" folder.
When I deleted "Factory Sound Bank.rfl" once, the same error was displayed.
I don't know the reason, but I think it's because the Path isn't visible from Reason.
I don't use a Mac myself, so I have no choice but to contact support anymore.

Using a translation such as deepl will make it feel pretty good.

Thank you, I also emailed support in poor English once, but it was like "Please give me a more detailed explanation"
Since it was written, I would like to try again.
Thank you for contacting us.
Even though it is a Lite version of Reason11 Rack Plugin, it can be used very well, so please do your best.
If you find out the cause, I would be grateful if you could let me know.
