Major features

Tverb is a plug-in inspired by the vocal reverb from David Bowie's 12th album Heroes.

100 choirs in Berlin can be recordedHansa studiois reproduced.

BOØWY's 85 release "BOØWY"ButHansa studioIt's also interesting to say that it was recorded in

A distinctive feature is that Mic2 and Mic3 have a Gate, and when the input increases, the Gate opens and the reverb is mixed.

Check out the video below (pre-cue).

At the beginning of the song (singing lightly), there is not much reverb, but after that, when the song is singing strongly, the reverb becomes audible.

Sound demo

Bring it to the vocals, but anything goes.

I tried playing drum'n'bass with Tverb as the master and it sounded good.

Another great point is that there are plenty of presets (about 200).

Overview

legendary sound

Tverb was developed in collaboration with legendary producer, engineer and musician Tony Visconti. This plugin is inspired by the iconic sound of the title track of David Bowie's twelfth studio album Heroes, recorded in the shadow of the Berlin Wall in August 1977.With only one track left for the lead vocal, Visconti devised a masterful recording technique to bring out the power of Bowie's voice. This technique is the basis of Tverb.

Visconti set up three microphones in the hall of Berlin's Hansa Studios, the first about 3 feet away and the third farther back in the hall so Bowie could sing directly. . Gates are installed for the second and third runs, and the gates open as Bowie sings louder.

signature technique

Tverb integrates three fully independent reverbs, with compression and selectable polar patterns on mic 3 and adjustable gates on mics 1 and 2. Tverb recreates Visconti's iconic effects as a starting point, while adding features that enable new soundscapes and effects.Stereo mics can be used to enhance the effect, and DAW automation can be used to program the mics to wander around the hall as the track plays.

Past Inspiration/Future Power

Tverb is designed with a new level of plugin efficiency in mind. Capture the rich ambience of Hansa's second studio, the historic Meistersaal concert hall, without taxing your DAW's CPU. Tverb has three independent reverbs, allowing two far mics to be convincing no matter where they are placed in the hall.

Features

  • Mic 1 polar pattern adjustable for adjusting amount of ambient room tone
  • Custom Eventide reverb algorithm with EQ, diffusion and decay controls

  • 2 linkable post-reverb gate modules with control over when the gate closes, how fast it closes, and how long it's forced open
  • A console (inspired by the one used in the session and labeled Visconti's "Grease Pencil") provides post-reverb channel processing for each mic and master.
  • The Room Mixer module modifies the sound of the room itself by controlling attenuation, diffusion and frequency attenuation.
  • Signal inversion button to remove (or create) phase cancellation
