Soundtoys' Little Plate is now available for free for a limited time
Soundtoys' Little Plate (valued at $99) is available for free for a limited time.
If you don't have one, be sure to get one.
Little Plate is a cheaper version of the recently released SuperPlate.
It is based on EMT 140, but it seems that this plug-in was created by collecting 5 EMT 140s.
Although it's a cheap version, it costs $99 and is very well made.
Sound demo
A very smooth reverb.
It goes well with vocals.
MOD is modulation.
The treble part becomes smoother and blends better with the instrument.
I tried playing it on a guitar.
The high-pitched parts are easy to understand.
This is what it looks like when you add it to the mix.
Overview
Warm, rich, spacious, unmistakable plate reverb sound at your fingertips.
Inspired by the original EMT 140 plate reverb, we captured the gorgeous sound and atmosphere of this studio classic and transformed it into a fun and musically exciting plug-in.And because we couldn't resist pushing the limits of reality, we added some fun touches to bring Little Plate into the space that original hardware dreamed of.
Once I recreated the iconic 140's sound, I couldn't help but aim for more.
The original reverb had a modest 5 second reverberation time, but we've increased that number even further.more and more.If you set the decay time to infinity, Little Plate's reverb tail will never go away.
Separation
Built-in low-cut filter keeps reverb and mix clean.
The low end of reverb can sometimes get out of control. Use the Low Cut control to reduce boomy bass.
space modulator
Toggling the Mod switch adds a slight modulation to the tail of the reverb.
These subtle, chaotic changes result in a fatter, smoother sound, especially during the long decay times of pitched instruments such as keyboards, guitars, and voices.
heavy vibes
At Soundtoys, we have a reputation for sticking to legendary hardware. But when we decided to create our first reverb plugin, we went further than ever before. We collected 5 EMT 140s from all over the country and assembled them in our lab.
We tuned them.I tuned it.I also went to a chiropractor (1.5 ton plate reverb). After spending some time listening and testing, we arrived at a sound that captures the feel of the classic EMT 140.Warm, rich, spacious and slightly dark, Little Plate is a small plug-in that captures the essence of plate reverb without breaking your back.
history of small plates
The EMT 140 uses a magnetic transducer to vibrate a giant metal plate and send the results back to engineers via a pickup that captures the reverberations.
The EMT 140 was released in 1957 and produced the richest, smoothest reverberation the world had ever heard.Plate reverb doesn't sound like a real room, but it has its own beauty. But the 140 is becoming harder to come by, and replacement parts are even harder to come by.Not to mention its size and weight, it is out of reach for a typical studio.
