Overview
Kris Kalimba is a handmade kalimba (African thumb piano) with a 1/4 inch input jack for line recording.Unlike traditional kalimba, Kris Kalimba is made of wood slabs without sound holes (rather than hollow coconut shells), with each metal rod cut to a specific length and tuned diatonic. It forms a scale in C major.
The original 1 octave (C3 to C4) has been extended to 2.5 octaves (G2 to C5) for maximum playability. On Kontakt keyboards, all natural pitches are represented by the green key, and all extended pitched notes are represented by the red key.Each note has four round-robin samples and two dynamic layers (p and mf).
This delicate bell-like instrument is perfect for adding to the hilarious atmosphere of a holiday on a track.
