Sound demo

As expected from a later model, the sound is good and the functionality is perfect.

I tried playing it with a guitar loop.

I changed the parameters.

The fluctuation that you can get with FLUTTER feels very good.

Overview

vintage tape echo
The TD-201 Vintage Tape Echo Plug-in brings the unmistakable sound of classic analog delay into the 21st century. This intuitive unit offers a wide range of detailed parameters, making it highly customizable yet simple to use.

As part of the 1950s revolution in music production, musicians, producers, and engineers introduced countless technological innovations, from guitar amplifiers to electric organs to an astonishing array of studio effects, that improved modern workflows. We worked hard to build the foundation for this. This period was also the birth of electric reverberation and delay units.

Early tape delays like the Echoplex and Copicat, the first attempts at echo generators, had a history of being technically unreliable and prone to damage during shipping, but their sound was very appealing. Therefore, further attempts inevitably followed.

It was in the late 1960s that Japanese engineer Ikutaro Kakehashi and Hammond began experimenting with multihead tape echoes. One of these was a free-floating 1/4-inch tape and spring reverb housed in a rugged tape chamber that was tour-ready and more stable and reliable than anything else on the market at the time. It was excellent.

The Roland Space Echo RE-201 became the brand's best-seller. Furthermore, it evolved into the delay effect that is still widely used in music production and sound design today. The famous delay sound has remained consistent since the RE-201 was born.

For many tape delay enthusiasts, nothing beats the sound of a legendary vintage unit. However, there are many people who struggle with creating unpredictable sounds. Therefore, TD-201 was born. The TD-201 is a highly customizable in-the-box tape delay that not only offers all of the classic vintage character, but also countless customization options for ultimate usability.

Features
Multihead mode selector

Implement complex mode selections that allow seamless transitions between playback heads, allowing you to dial in your perfect room setup. Easily mix in reverb and delay just like the vintage original.

Fine adjustment for each head

Fine-tune the perfect echo by adjusting depth, volume, and stereo position for each playhead on the bottom panel. Nine parameters enable surgical-level precision in your workflow.

tap & sink

Sync control allows you to quickly synchronize tape speed to mix/rhythm. With this feature, the echo will follow the tap knob impulse.

dial in random

Controls the motor, flutter, headroom, dropout, and noise characteristic of hardware tape machines. You can also adjust the randomness to make the echo sound more realistic.

lo-fi cassette effect

Quick tip: Set echo to 0ms (HEAD 1 ONLY Mode Selector = 1 & HD1 Pos = 0) and only control mid-panel motors, flutter, headroom, dropout, and noise. This is the perfect lo-fi cassette effect.

Apple silicon and SSE2 optimization code

DSP operations are pipelined using the latest Apple Silicon & SSE2 instruction sets. This ensures high-performance behavior despite the plugin's highly complex calculations.

HighDPI/Retina support

The user interface supports high pixel density on both Windows and Mac OS systems, providing the most enjoyable user experience on high DPI displays. If you are working on Windows, please refer to your DAW's manual to see if it supports HighDPI.
