Audio Damage's Other Desert Cities is on sale.
They don't have many sales, so if you're interested, please check it out.
I thought I didn't need Delay anymore, but it was sweet.
Great Delay effect.
It's not a simple delay, it's a complex effect, and you'll want it.
First, I played the preset.
"Other Desert Cities" is equipped with XNUMX types of Delays.
Each of these XNUMX types is a commercial plug-in level.
I will briefly explain these XNUMX types.
Desert Shores
Desert Shores – Straight stereo delay with saturation and filtering
It can be said that it is a normal Delay except that it has saturation, but "Other Desert Cities" has excellent basic functions.
Saturation is applied only to the Delay sound, which is convenient when you want to make the Delay sound stand out a little, and this alone makes it a tone.
It also has an LFO and an envelope follower, so you can freely modulate it.
For example, there is a function called "Spraed" that allows you to fine-tune the left and right Delay times, but if you apply an LFO or envelope follower here, you will get an unstable feeling and a Lo-Fi feeling.
Mecca
Mecca – Delay Smoothly reverses the signal
The point is reverse delay.
It's great to hang it on a guitar.
Also, the "Reflect" switch is great.
This reverses the first feedback, then returns to normal, and then repeats the reverse.
Cactus
Cactus – Plays a delayed signal in either direction at any speed, from zero to twice normal.
It's a pitch shift delay.
It is also possible to prevent dissonance by selecting the following octaves, 5th, and semitones. (Complicated riffs are impossible, but they can be single notes)
I tried to ring it.
Thermal
Thermal – Multi-tap delay with up to 16 output taps
Delay is quite divided into multi-tap type and others, but "Other Desert Cities" also has built-in multi-tap.
Up to 16 can be used in XNUMX systems.
You can do everything from making sounds that you are aiming for to chaotic things.
The Mirage,
Mirage – Fusion of variable speed delay and multi-tap delay
Mirage says "the Eltro Information Rate ChangerIt seems that it was inspired by.
It's a crazy Delay that can create a pretty chaotic atmosphere.
sky valley
Sky Valley – Granular Delay
The Granular Delay gives the impression that it is basically chaos.
I think it's difficult to use normally.
The rest has nothing to do with Delay, but "Other Desert Cities" has "Diffuser", which is quite unique and powerful.
It can be used as a chorus or flanger, and I think it can also be used to create a space.
This will make the sound garbled.
Overview
Infinitely powerful delay and modulation with high creativity
Other Desert Cities is a workshop for creativity, named after the famous sign on the I-10 highway departing from Los Angeles. As the name implies, there are many strange and wonderful things lurking inside. With six algorithms and rich modulation capabilities, each with its own unique personality, Other Desert Cities fills a variety of niches, from basic stereo dual delay to unprecedented granular pitch shifting chaos. I can.
algorithm
Desert Shores stereo delay.Standard dual delay with basic EQ, saturation, crossfeed and spread.
Mecca Reverse Delay. Normal dual delay, but repeats are played in the opposite direction.
Cactus Dual-Delta Delay. It's more like a pair of tape delays with individual speed control and pitch quantize.
Thermal Multi-Tap Delay.Dual multi-tap with spread, cross feed and basic EQ.
Mirage Multi-Head Delay. Imagine a tape delay head like a VCR's rotating head. It's experimental, weird, and wonderful.
Sky Valley Granular Delay. Pitch shift granular delay, grain size and scatter control, with EQ
Modulation
Other Desert Cities has a lot of modulation features. With two tempo-synced variable wave-shaped LFOs and an envelope follower supplied by the main or sidechain inputs, you can extensively modulate almost any control across the user interface, creating a new sound. Expand your possibilities.
diffuser
Other Desert Cities also include a diffuser that can "blurr" the feedback path to bring the ODC closer to the area of reverb (especially when using the Thermal multitap algorithm).
Levels
The secret superpower of Other Desert Cities is I / O control. You can control and modulate every aspect of the signal chain gain structure. You don't have to ask for ducking for this delay. You can control everything from ducking, panning, oscillating, envelopes, and to your heart's content.Note that the mute and input level controls are the input levels to the delay block and do not affect the dry signal. This allows you to use the "tail" behavior and insert effects like sends.
