Overview

The history of New Cajon and Bongo is one of the history of darkness and despair.West African and Central African slaves are believed to be the origin of Kahondrum. The cajon is a very popular instrument in Cuban music, which traditionally also includes bongos.Bongos were also brought to Cuba by slaves from Africa and are often performed in salsa, rumba, changui and other traditional styles. The modern adaptation of cajon is common in Spanish flamenco music, but it is relatively new.The cajon was introduced by flamenco master Paco de Lucía in the 1970s and is now the standard instrument for Spanish guitar music.
We decided to sample two sets of professional cajon (snare and non-snare) and three sets of professional bongos (small, medium and large) to explore these two instruments extensively. We recorded the drums as an ensemble, a divisi, and an individual solo instrument, so you can build your own custom ensemble size.We also used hands, fingers, mallets, sticks, and brushes to sample both types of instruments in a closed and dry manner. All instruments now cover a huge range of different playing surfaces. Cajons are recorded in two different mic positions (internal and external), allowing users to faithfully reproduce the sound they want.In addition, a second sampling was done in a warm, slightly damp wood percussion studio to increase user flexibility. All instruments in the library have 2 round-robins per velocity layer, each with up to 3 velocity layers. The end result is a library of Cajon and Bongo, the most detailed ensembles and solos in sampling history.
