Introducing ADLMIDI/OPNMIDI, an FM synth sound source that emulates the YMF262/YM2612 chip

Today, I would like to introduce ADLMIDI/OPNMIDI, an FM synth sound source that emulates the YMF262/YM2612 chip that I found by chance.

Separate plug-ins for YMF262/YM2612 chips.

I feel like I just found a bargain.

Because there is no site that covers these two plugins.

I'm happy to be able to introduce a minor but good plugin.

Sound demo

I tried playing the preset.

Let's start with ADLMIDI.

Somehow the 4op preset does not sound, so if you change it to 2 x 2 po, it will sound.

It's an FM sound.

Next is OPNMIDI.

Even the same sound is quite different.

I added drums and bass.

Overview

This software is an FM synthesizer plug-in based on OPL3 and OPN2 sound chip emulation.
Emulation and drivers are provided by libADLMIDI and libOPNMIDI.

  • Control multiple YMF262/YM2612 emulation chips
  • High fidelity emulation, compromise level selection (good fidelity/fast, excellent fidelity/slow).
  • Synthesizer for melodic and percussive instruments
  • expandable polyphony
  • A collection of bundled instruments
  • Support for dynamic parameterization and automation
  • A strict implementation of the MIDI standard
  • Multi-channel operation and General MIDI compatibility
  • Ability to synthesize entire MIDI files

Download

You can download it without registration.

Go to the above link and click the download link for the OS you use from the latest version of "Assets".

"ADLMIDI" and "OPNMIDI" are separate links.

Installation

After downloading, decompress it and put the DLL in the VST2 folder inside the VST2 folder.

There is also a VST3 folder, but the folder contains DLL files, so it doesn't seem to be VST3.
(VST3 files have the extension ".vst3")

Most VST2 folders are one of the following:

C:Program FilesVSTPlugIns
C \ Program Files \ Steinberg \ VST Plugins
C \ Program Files \ Steinberg \ Cubase \ VSTPlugins
C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ VST2
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2

Summary

It's a good plugin.

The last update date is 2020, which is a little old, but it can be used enough.

The unique Lo-Fi feeling of FM is indescribably good.
