XNUMX Tips FL Studio Beginners Should Know

I'm yosi, the caretaker.

There are quite a few people who expose their screens on Twitter etc. Oh, I want you to know this!I often think that.

I wrote an article about such thoughts.
(Some of the past articles are reused.)

This article will be sent with the following contents.

-Register the Song folder and the folder containing the Sample in the FL Studio browser.
· Keep certain plug-ins fixed in the foreground
-Display the screens of multiple plug-ins
・ Be sure to verify Plugin Scan
・ Preserve automation that has been hand-salted

There is also the second one.

Register the folder containing Sample etc. in the browser of FL Studio

Other than this, there are many people who haven't done it.

But I definitely want you to use it.

It's really convenient.

Show a specific folder in your browser

Perhaps almost everyone downloads free and paid sample material and saves it in a folder.

How to display the folder in the FL Studio browser.

For example, let's say you have created a folder named "Samples" in My Documents and saved sample material.

2020 03 10 21x24 18

Make a copy of this Path.

From the FL Studio menu, click Option-> File settings.

2020 03 10 21x49 03

If you click the right side of the folder icon of "Braow ser extra seach folders", you can directly enter the Path, so copy it.
(You can also set it by clicking the folder icon and following the Path)

2020 03 10 21x50 57

When you close the screen, the path you have just set will be displayed in the browser.

2020 03 10 21x56 46

The shortcut to display the browser is "Alt + F8".

Since you can register up to 32 Paths, I think that it will not be enough unless you use it in a strange way.

Increase browser tabs

Snapshot can be tabbed on the browser of FL Studio.

By default, 3 are displayed, but you can increase it to 10.

2020 03 10 22x05 16

As an example this time, register the "Samples" added earlier in Snapshot and tab it.

Register to Snapshot

First, register for Snapshot.

Click "Snapshot options" in your browser and then click "Snap 4".

2020 03 10 22x22 48

As an example this time, select the "Samples" added earlier.

2020 03 10 22x14 59

Click "Rename / color…" from "Snapshot options" in your browser.

2020 03 10 22x29 37

Set any name and icon.

I think the icon should be easy to imagine.

2020 03 10 22x31 59

You can still use it, but other displays are in the way.

Narrow down the items to be displayed to one

Only one item (folder) can be displayed on the FL Studio browser.

Click Show only opend folders from the top left menu.

2020 03 10 22x33 57

With this, it will be refreshed as follows.

2020 03 10 22x36 45

If you repeat this, you can display your favorite folders as tabs in the FL Studio browser, which will save you a lot of time.

If the "Plugin database" shows more than just plugins, this method will also clean up the plugins folder.

2020 03 10 22x37 31

And if you register the thumbnail, you can forget the name as below!

2020 08 24 21x37 33

Please refer to this article for how to organize the "Plugin database".

When the thumbnail is displayed, you can reach the plugin even if you forget the name.

Keep certain plugins fixed in the foreground

You can fix the plug-in to the front.

It is useful to know if you are using multiple displays.

It's also useful when using graph plugins and when you don't want them to disappear when you activate others.

2020 08 24 22x08 33

Click the plugin menu to see how

2020 08 24 22x10 13

Click Detached.

2020 08 24 19x21 09

Display screens for multiple plugins

FL Studio, good or bad, can only display one plug-in at the same time when used normally.

The benefit is that you don't waste resources

The disadvantage is that if you are modulating multiple plugins, you will not be able to see the parameter movements at the same time.

The solution is simple.

Alt You can display multiple plugins at the same time by clicking while pressing the key.

2020 08 24 22x11 30

Be sure to verify Plugin Scan

Is there anyone who only needs "Fast Scan"? (I used to be)

"Fast Scan" is easier, but it is not recognized properly by the plugin.

It will take some time, but let's turn on "Verify" without the hassle.

2020 08 24 22x13 27

In particular, Waves cannot be used because it is not recognized normally unless it is verified.

Also, Reason Station was not recognized normally, and it could not be used unless "Verify" was turned on and scanned.

Save automation that has been hand-salted

Save the automation clip if you made it in detail.

I wrote this article in detail, so please refer to it.

XNUMX Tips FL Studio Beginners Should Know

It's pretty good even if you don't know anything else, but the efficiency is completely different before and after you know it.

Please enjoy your DTM life without doing anything in vain.

Writing the same thing over and over again, like an automation clip, is just a waste of time.

    Nice to meet you.
    Let me questions.
I am a super beginner. This time, I learned about Wa Production for the first time and installed WA Production's "We Love FL Studio Free Bundle 3".

In an email from Wa Prduction,
You should run a plugin scan in FL Studio and load the plugin in FL Studio. Then follow the instructions we sent you to activate the plugin in the plugins window.
    I arrived.

    Where is FL Studio?
I only know the Wa foundation site.
I'm not sure how to load and activate plugins.
If this is the case, the bundle cannot be activated.
    Thanking you in advance.

  2. ハ ッ ピ ー Than:

    Thank you for the url!
    I know where to buy.

I installed the software (I thought it was daw) because Cakewalk By Bandlab is free.I've just started, so I wondered if I made a mistake from the software selection.Composing?I have only experience with Apple's GarageBand.
After downloading the bundle at wa foundation, I started looking into FL studio.
I want to make dance music and R&B, so FL studio looks good, and fruity is cheap.

There was no one around me who was familiar with it, and the terminology was still subtle, so I asked a question.
    Thank you for your response!

      Mr. Happy

After downloading the bundle at wa foundation, I started looking into FL studio.
I want to make dance music and R&B, so FL studio looks good, and fruity is cheap.

FL Studio is recommended for dance and R&B.
But it's better to stop the fruity edition.

Edition comparisonAs you can see, audio clips cannot be handled.
I think it's pretty deadly to not have this feature.

You should at least buy the Producer Edition.
And I think it's a good idea to think about whether you need Gross Beat or not, and whether you want Signature.
(I think the Producer Edition, which is on sale at this time, is good because you can upgrade later.)

It's still on sale at the last minute official, so if you're going to buy it, it's better to be early.

    Hello
I have answered your question once before.
Thank you very much for that.

My question is, I'm currently using MPC software and am interested in FLstdio, so I'm thinking about introducing it.
I'm not sure if it makes sense to use both.
I have a trial version of fl.
    I haven't mastered fl yet.
The genres I make are boom bap, lofiHIPHOP, etc. I don't make traps or anything that seems to be popular recently.
As for knowledge, I am a super beginner of DTM.

① MPC can be used as a plug-in in FL (Since it can be used, I feel like I'm wondering what to do with fl after completing it with mpc.)
    (3) Since MPC cannot use vstXNUMX or AAX, the range of choices is widened (I think this is quite important, but I don't think I need to think about it yet because I haven't mastered the effects of mpc yet.)
(XNUMX) You can do it with just a PC keyboard and mouse.

Advantages Disadvantages I can only think of the above.
I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice.

    • yosi Than:

      Good evening.
You said that you are interested in FL Studio, but I have never used MPC software, so I will answer as much as I can.

Regarding ①, it is also possible to use FL within MPC.
I think it depends on the person what they do in FL after completing MPC.
For example, do you create beats and some phrases with MPC and do the rest with FL, or use FL sound sources to create beats with MPC?

As for ②, AAX is a format that can only be used with Protools, so VST3 can be used with FL.
Even if the effect is the same type, the sound will be quite different depending on the object, so please try using various things.
(At first, I think it would be good to try different presets and see what kind of effect you can get.)

Also, the FL has its own sound sources and effects.
When it comes to sound sources, FLEX and Hammer are famous.
For effects, Vintage Phaser, Multiband Delay, and LuxeVerb are recommended.
      (Newly installed in FL21)
You can also use the Demo version, so please try it.

There are quite a few other things, but there is a difference in the songs that can be made depending on the DAW.
So by all means, try using FL once to compose a beat, or try typing in MIDI.

      • Yuu Than:

        Thank you for your reply.

It was the first time I heard that the sound is different between vst2 and 3.
        I'll try it.

I heard that FL can be used in MPC, but is it possible to use effects and synths in MPC in FL without going through MPC (or vice versa)?
In FL, there are no MPC effects in the plug-ins (and vice versa).

Amazon has a campaign to return points for purchases by today, so I will try to purchase it.
Thank you for taking the first step.

          Mr. yuu

          Good evening.

It was the first time I heard that the sound is different between vst2 and 3.

          This is a misunderstanding.

(I think this is quite important, but I don't think I need to think about it yet because I haven't mastered the effects of mpc alone.)

In response to this statement, I meant that even if the same type of effect is used, the effect will be different between the effects that come with the DAW and the effects released by other developers, so please try using various things.

I heard that FL can be used in MPC, but is it possible to use effects and synths in MPC in FL without going through MPC (or vice versa)?
In FL, there are no MPC effects in the plug-ins (and vice versa).

          This is not possible.
The effects that come with the DAW cannot be used with other DAWs.
If you want to use it, you need to load the DAW as a plug-in and use it in it.
FL Studio works as a VSTi, so it can be loaded into other DAWs.

Amazon has a campaign to return points for purchases by today, so I will try to purchase it.
Thank you for taking the first step.

Oh, so you bought FL Studio.

          • Yuu Than:

            Thank you for your reply.

I understand about the type of VST.
First of all, I will try various things from the attached

Effects that come with the DAW cannot be used with other DAWs.
I'm glad to know because I've been wondering about it.

    We become indebted to.
    thank you for your help.

I'm thinking of using them separately because I'm thinking of using them separately when MPC is running in FL.

I'm using the trial version now, but it seems that the product version will probably work the same way, right?

I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice if there is anything that seems to be understandable in the improvement trial, such as setting.

    • yosi Than:

      Mr. Yuu

      Hello.

I'm thinking of using them separately because I'm thinking of using them separately when MPC is running in FL.

What do you mean by instability?
      Will the FL freeze, etc.?
I would like some more information.

Also, about mastering with FL Studio, FL Studio is not a DAW for mastering.
In my personal opinion, one of the advantages of using FL Studio is that it allows you to create and mix things quickly.
If it's only for mastering, another DAW (eg Reaper) may be better.

I'm using the trial version now, but it seems that the product version will probably work the same way, right?

Yes, FL Studio doesn't differ much between the trial version and the retail version, so I'm assuming it will work the same.

I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice if there is anything that seems to be understandable in the improvement trial, such as setting.

If you want to try it, please try "Use fixed size buffers" and "Make bridged" written in the following article.

      https://chilloutwithbeats.com/flstudio-use-fixed-size-buffers/

Also try changing the ASIO buffer size.
Some plug-ins require a buffer size of XNUMX ms or less to work properly.

If it seems to be improved, I would be happy if you could tell me if something was effective.

  5. yuu Than:

    Thank you for your reply.

Once the MPC is started and the display of the MPC is erased or disappeared, it will not come out unless the FL is restarted once.
If it disappears, it cannot be operated.

The display in the FL continues to remain (it is difficult to express with letters.) This also does not disappear unless you restart.

The operation of MPCLIVE used as a controller in MPC is strange.
Although it is not frozen, it is painful to use MPC in FL with the above operation.

What comes to mind is that MPCLIVE2 is used as a controller and audio interface, so I think it may be related to audio output.
I think it might change if I buy a separate audio interface and change the audio output, but I'm hesitant because I have MPCLIVE.

    I see
    It's not suitable for mastering.
I'm really interested in it because it looks interesting even if I watch the creative scenery on youtube, etc., but will I really be able to use two DAWs while studying? Both I think.

Thank you for the buffer information.
I had heard something about it, but I didn't really understand it, so thank you for the information.
    I'll take a look.

I'll let you know if I improve
I'll play around with it some more.

    • yosi Than:

      Mr. yuu

I will summarize the answers here.

Once the MPC is started and the display of the MPC is erased or disappeared, it will not come out unless the FL is restarted once.
If it disappears, it cannot be operated.

When this is displayed, one string of characters continues to remain on the screen like a tab.

As far as I've heard, I can only say that it's a compatibility issue between MPC and FL Studio.
I can't say for sure because I don't have the item.

It may be better not to use it in FL if it is a compatibility issue.
I think you should try it with another DAW once.
If you know if the same thing happens in other DAWs, you can isolate it.

There are various DAWs such as Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper, Reaon, and Logic for Mac, so please try them out.
As far as Akai's official information is concerned, it seems to be compatible with Ableton Live.

I have FLasio and LIVE2asio, but the sound coming out of the speakers is the best with Flasio.

I'm not sure which one is better.
Changing the Buffer Length changes the latency.
If you want lower latency, use a lower Buffer Length.
However, if you make it too small, the CPU load will increase, and noise will be heard if it leaks from the buffer.
When inputting in real time, I think that it is better to operate such as lowering the Buffer Length and raising it at other times.

      • yuu Than:

        thank you for your reply.

I feel like it's compatible with FL.
I can use it normally even if I launch other plugins.

Certainly, Akai should be able to use something from Ableton, so it might be a good match, but the price is high.
Regarding FL, I would like to consider using it solo.

        I understand about asio.
I don't know much about latency settings, so I'll adjust them while investigating.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
        Thank you for your time.

        • yosi Than:

          Mr. yuu

Certainly, Akai should be able to use something from Ableton, so it might be a good match, but the price is high.

Since there is a demo version, I think you should try it once.
There is also a way to buy from someone who will transfer the license at an online flea market such as Rakuma.
I think that would make it a little cheaper.

  6. yuu Than:

Regarding the display you wrote earlier, isn't there a string of options in the upper left of FL → Odi setting?
When this is displayed, one string of characters will remain on the screen like a tab all the time.
It does not have an X mark and can be moved, but cannot be erased.
It disappears together when FL is closed.

    Do you have these symptoms?

I don't know if this is related to the plugin, but it remains when the plugin is called.

I tried changing two items such as the buffer of the plug-in I received earlier, but it seems that it will not change.

Also, regarding the audio output, I don't know if the settings are set properly, but currently I can use asio4all, FLasio, and LIVE2asio, but the sound that comes out of the speakers is the best for Flasio, but if you change the settings, the sound will change. Is it possible?

I would appreciate it if you could let me know if you have any articles.

    Thank you.
